Poster Competition – Department of Community Medicine, RMCS

The Department of Community Medicine, Rai Medical College Sargodha, organised a poster competition featuring creatively designed and well-prepared posters by 4th Year MBBS students.

A jury comprising three professors evaluated the entries and selected the best posters. The high quality of all submissions made the selection a challenging task. The exhibition attracted a large number of students and faculty members.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and trophies to the prize winners.

🔥 Fire Safety Drill at Rai Medical College & Teaching Hospital

A comprehensive Fire Safety Drill was conducted at Rai Medical College & Teaching Hospital. Following a briefing on fire safety protocols, a practical demonstration was held, where House Officers, paramedics, faculty members, and medical students actively participated and practised the correct use of fire extinguishers.

The activity aimed to enhance fire preparedness, emergency response skills, and safety awareness among hospital and college personnel.

Clinical Pathological Conference (CPC)

A CPC was organised by the Department of Gastroenterology, featuring a rare case of Solitary Re**al Ulcer Syndrome presented by Final Year MBBS students.

The case was presented with clarity and confidence, engaging a large number of students and faculty members. The session provided a valuable learning experience and enriched participants’ clinical understanding.

*2. Objective of the Course*
To equip undergraduate students, house officers, nursing staff and allied health professionals with essential, life-saving skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with current international guidelines, and to improve survival outcomes in cases of out-of-hospital and in-hospital cardiac arrest.

*3. Detailed Program Schedule*

*10:00 AM - 10:15 AM: Welcome & Registration*
Participants registration, introduction to course objectives and expected learning outcomes.

*10:15 AM - 11:15 AM: Theoretical Session*
Interactive lecture on Chain of Survival, recognition of cardiac arrest, importance of early CPR and early defibrillation, activation of emergency response system.

*11:15 AM - 12:30 PM: Adult BLS Practical Demonstration & Hands-On Training*
Demonstration of high-quality chest compressions, scene safety, pulse check, rescue breathing, and AED operation (Turn ON and follow voice prompts). Supervised practice by all participants on adult manikins.

*12:30 PM - 01:00 PM: Prayer & Tea Break*

*01:00 PM - 02:00 PM: Child, Infant CPR & Foreign Body Airway Obstruction*
Differences in technique for child and infant, two-finger and two-thumb method, management of choking in adult, child and infant using back slaps and chest/abdominal thrusts.

*02:00 PM - 03:00 PM: Skills Assessment & Scenario-Based Training*
Individual skill testing and team-based cardiac arrest scenarios in clinical context (ward/ER) to build teamwork, communication and leadership.

*03:00 PM - 03:30 PM: Q&A Session and Closing Ceremony*
Open discussion, feedback from participants and closing remarks.

*4. Training Highlights*
- CPR Adult, Child, Infant training on manikins
- AED trainer operation - Turn ON and follow voice prompts
- Choking relief techniques - Back slaps & chest thrusts
- Team-based cardiac arrest scenarios

*5. Outcome*
All participants successfully demonstrated correct technique of high-quality chest compressions at a rate of 100-120/min and depth as per guidelines, and effective use of AED. The overall feedback from participants was excellent, with strong demand for regular repeat sessions and BLS training.

CPC | Department of Pediatric Medicine

The Department of Pediatric Medicine organised a CPC in which Final Year MBBS students presented a case of Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) in a 12-year-old girl admitted to the ward.

The case was presented comprehensively and was followed by a healthy and engaging question-and-answer session. A large number of students and faculty members attended the session, reflecting their keen interest in clinical learning.
