A high-level delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), accompanied by representatives of NTC International Co., Ltd. and KPMG, visited the University of Sargodha and held a productive meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas.
During the meeting, both sides discussed potential areas of collaboration in agriculture, value addition, agri-business development, climate-smart farming, food processing, and research commercialization. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities for joint research, technology transfer, capacity building, and sustainable rural development initiatives.
The delegation and university leadership also deliberated on strengthening industry-academia linkages, promoting international partnerships, and enhancing knowledge exchange to support innovation-driven growth and regional development.
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing research that addresses socio-economic challenges and contributes to sustainable development. He expressed optimism that collaboration with JICA and its partners would open new avenues for academic excellence and community impact.
The visit marked an important step toward fostering strategic international cooperation and reinforcing the University of Sargodha’s vision of becoming a globally connected, research-intensive institution.

The inauguration ceremony of the Textile Design Thesis Show 2026, organized by the Institute of Art and Design, University of Sargodha, was held at the Multipurpose Hall (MPH), showcasing the creative and innovative work of graduating students.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas inaugurated the exhibition and visited various displays featuring students’ thesis projects. Dean faculty of arts and humanities Prof. Dr. Shamshad Ahmed, Director IAD Ms Mariyum Said and senior faculty members also attended the ceremony.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the outstanding artwork and creative talent demonstrated by the students and commended the dedication, hard work, and professionalism reflected in their designs.
He also praised the efforts of the faculty members for providing quality academic guidance and fostering an environment that encourages creativity and artistic excellence.

The Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS), University of Sargodha, in collaboration with the Student Financial Aid Office, Directorate of Academics, and Confucius Institute (CI), organized the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award Ceremony to recognize academic excellence and support deserving students through financial assistance.
Under the scholarship program, 158 students from various departments of the university were awarded scholarships amounting to PKR 1.784 million. The awards were granted on the basis of merit and financial need, reflecting the program’s commitment to promoting educational opportunity and academic achievement.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the significance of educational collaboration in strengthening the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and China. He stated that the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Program demonstrates the shared commitment of both countries to academic excellence, educational equity, and youth empowerment.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan expressed gratitude to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China for its continued support and appreciated the scholarship program for helping deserving students overcome financial barriers to higher education.
Director Pakistan Institute of China Studies and Host Director of the Confucius Institute, Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, emphasized the role of educational cooperation in further strengthening Pakistan-China relations. He noted that PICS and the Confucius Institute continue to promote academic, cultural, and research collaboration through conferences, seminars, publications, policy dialogues, and student exchange initiatives.

The Higher Education Commission honoured leading Pakistani researchers featured in Stanford University’s Global Top 2% Scientists List 2025 and recipients of National Research Program for Universities research grants during a prestigious ceremony held at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab.
The ceremony was organized to recognize excellence in research, innovation and scholarly contribution across Pakistan’s higher education sector. Punjab Minister for Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, PHEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and vice chancellors from various universities attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, academic leaders appreciated the contribution of researchers in strengthening Pakistan’s knowledge economy and promoting a culture of innovation. The ceremony also underlined the importance of supporting faculty-led research through competitive grants and national-level recognition. The University congratulated all award recipients and acknowledged their dedication, scholarly commitment and service to the academic community.
