APPSMA North Punjab, led by President Abrar Ahmad Khan, met Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Capt (R) Nadeem Nasir to discuss key issues concerning private educational institutions.

The delegation highlighted the continued closure of private schools while Federal Directorate schools are functioning, particularly affecting Grade 9 and 10 students, and requested permission for limited classes under SOPs. The DC assured that the matter would be taken up with the relevant authorities.

The DC also clarified that private schools are free to hold 14 August Independence Day celebrations and encouraged them to educate students about Pakistan’s independence and national values.

APPSMA requested a dedicated meeting on broader issues faced by private schools of Rawalpindi, which the DC agreed.

Subject: *Urgent Reopening of Private Educational Institutions – One City, Two Policies*

Respected Sir,

The All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSMA) respectfully expresses serious concern over the continued closure of private schools in Rawalpindi, while FDE institutions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad resumed classes on 3 August 2026.

This has created an unjustified situation of “one city, two education policies”, despite similar geographical and weather conditions.

The prolonged closure is causing further loss of already limited instructional time, increasing academic pressure on students and teachers, and placing severe financial strain on private institutions.

APPSMA therefore respectfully requests your urgent intervention under Section 12-D of the Punjab Private Educational Institutions Act for the immediate reopening of private educational institutions in Rawalpindi.

If continued closure is considered necessary, we request that the objective and scientific basis for treating private institutions differently may kindly be communicated.
Our children have already lost valuable academic time. They cannot afford to lose more.
