Fjwu_Official Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) has been established in rawalpindi for women of pakistan. It became the Presidency of Pakistan around the mid 1960’s. Ch.

Classes were initiated at FJWU on December 28, 1998 and the first batch of students graduated in September 2001. Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) has been established in the premises of the Old Presidency, situated at the Mall, in the heart of Rawalpindi Cantonment. Our heritage has been beautifully interlinked with the education of women for the next millennium. The main building is Victoria

n as reflected in its architectural splendor. This building was originally built as a residence by two famous Sikh brothers, Mohan Singh and Sohan Singh. The rooms are steeped in history; personalities like Benazir Bhutto, Mr. Fazal Elahi and President Zia-ul-Haq have walked in the corridors of this building. Former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated this gift for the nation’s daughters and their families on August 6, 1998.As it stands it is a symbol of the commitment of the nation to women’s education. The University is unique in the fact that the Punjab Government funds it. The Government of Punjab is very supportive of the university thereby furthering the cause of women education and empowerment. Students have been coming from all over the country-from as far as Balochistan, Southern Punjab and Sindh. Between 1998 to 2008, more than 4362 students have been awarded degrees and effectively employed in various organizations in and outside the country. Women working at the University have made history in more than one way. At the first Women’s University the women are involved in higher education management, and offering courses to bring students to an international level of training. Women institutions from all over the world have been in touch to develop exchange programs of collaboration.

FJWU Fine Art Faculty Shines on the International Art Scene

Ms. Kishwar Kiani, recently promoted Assistant Professor in the Department of Fine Art, is currently exhibiting at Friday Gallery, Los Angeles as part of their group show House of Spidersilk. An exploration of the quiet architectures of body, land, ritual, and memory, the exhibition asks what it means to hold and be held by structures we rarely name but live inside every day, across textile, sculpture, photography, and painting.

The show brings together some of the most prominent names in contemporary Pakistani art and its diaspora including Farida Batool, Naiza Khan, Sara Khan, Seher Naveed, Risham Syed and Massoma Syed, curated by Muzzumil Ruheel. We congratulate Kishwar on this achievement and on representing the department and the university amongst a leading group of Pakistani women artists on an international platform. The show runs until 31st August 2026.

Greener Campus, Sustainable Future

The Department of Anthropology, Fatima Jinnah Women University, in collaboration with the Punjab Forest Department and the Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) Centre, successfully organized a Green Campus Initiative.

The initiative brought together environmental commitment and collective action through a meaningful Tree Plantation Activity, promoting a greener, healthier, and more sustainable campus.

The tree plantation ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Sarwet Rasool, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Mr. Iftikhar Farooqi, Chief Conservator of Forests; Dr. Syed Mahmood Nasir, Former IG Forest, Punjab; and Mr. Irshad Ramay, CEO, RECP, along with faculty members, staff, and students.

Their presence and support added great value to the initiative and strengthened our shared commitment to environmental sustainability and a greener future.

Following the plantation ceremony, Prof. Dr. Sarwet Rasool, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, presented souvenirs to the distinguished guests on behalf of the Worthy Vice Chancellor.

Dr. Shafia Azam, Chairperson, Department of Anthropology, expressed her gratitude and delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable support and collaboration of all partners in making the Green Campus Initiative a success.

Another proud achievement for Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) as Uroosa Wajid, Sumaya, and Zainab Naseer secured 2nd Position at EMCOT 2026, held at COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, for their innovative project, “A Smart Wristband for Continuous Physiological Monitoring.”

Department of Behavioral Sciences Organizes Conflict Resolution Skills Training for FJWU Faculty and Staff

The Department of Behavioral Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, organized a Conflict Resolution Skills Training workshop for the faculty and staff of FJWU.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Sarah Ahmed Atif, Ombudsperson, Office of the University Ombudsperson, George Mason University, USA. The workshop focused on developing practical skills for understanding, managing, and resolving conflicts effectively in professional and interpersonal settings.

The event was organized by Dr. Sajida Naz, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Behavioral Sciences; Dr. Sadia Aleem, Assistant Professor; Dr. Uzma Jillani, Assistant Professor; Dr. Tahira Jabeen, Assistant Professor; and Ms. Anisa Habib, Lecturer, Department of Behavioral Sciences.

The training received an enthusiastic response from the participants. The session was highly interactive, providing faculty and staff with opportunities to engage in discussions, share experiences, and explore practical approaches to conflict resolution. The active participation of the audience contributed to a productive and engaging learning environment.

Dr. Sarwat Rasool, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, FJWU, appreciated the efforts of the Department of Behavioral Sciences in organizing the training and acknowledged the importance of such professional development initiatives for faculty and staff.

Voices of Patriotism: FJWU Celebrates Azadi Through Milli Naghmas

The Directorate of Student Affairs, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), through the Art, Culture and Dramatics Society, in collaboration with Radio VOW, organized the Milli Naghma Competition 2026 as part of the University’s Independence Day celebrations.

The competition brought together talented students from different departments, providing them with a vibrant platform to express their love for Pakistan through the timeless power of patriotic music. Eight students participated in the competition, presenting iconic Milli Naghmas that celebrated Pakistan’s identity, unity and national spirit.

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Muhammad Ali, Incharge, Department of Communication and Media Studies, with Ayesha Siddiqua, Hajra Salim, Rimsha Zahid and Warda Ahmed representing the Art, Culture and Dramatics Society as the organizing committee.

One Nation. One Pledge. One Future.

The Directorate of Student Affairs, through the Social Welfare Society, organized a National Pledge Campaign at Fatima Jinnah Women University to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan. The campaign was conducted on both physical and digital platforms to engage the university community and promote a shared commitment to a peaceful, prosperous, and responsible Pakistan.

As part of the physical campaign, a National Pledge activity was held at the university, where faculty members, staff, and students gathered to sign the pledge. Participants expressed their resolve to go green, promote social development, embrace unity, and demonstrate responsibility for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.

The activity provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on their role as responsible citizens and reaffirm their commitment to the core national values of Unity, Faith, Discipline, Service, and Progress.

In parallel, a Digital Pledge Campaign was launched on FJWU’s official social media platforms. Students, faculty, and alumni from across the country joined by sharing their pledges online with the campaign hashtag, spreading messages of patriotism, civic responsibility, and national solidarity.

Through this initiative, FJWU reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing national pride and a sense of collective responsibility among the youth, contributing to the vision of a stronger and more united Pakistan.

Celebrating Diversity, Strengthening Unity: FJWU Marks National Minorities Day 2026

The Directorate of Student Affairs, through the Social Welfare Society, organized a webinar on National Minorities Day 2026 under the theme “Promoting Inclusion, Religious Harmony, and Social Cohesion in Pakistan.” The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Adeela Rehman, Focal Person, Social Welfare Society, and Dr. Hafsa Ayaz, Co-Focal Person.

The webinar featured Dr. Kulsoom Fatima, Assistant Professor, Department of General Education, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, as the guest speaker. Faculty members and students of FJWU actively participated in the online session.

The session focused on the significance of National Minorities Day and highlighted the importance of religious harmony, diversity, equality, inclusion, constitutional rights, peaceful coexistence, and social cohesion. The discussion also reflected on the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for an inclusive, tolerant, and peaceful Pakistan.

A particularly engaging segment of the webinar was the interactive Q&A, where students and faculty shared reflections on fostering mutual respect and protecting the rights of all citizens. Participants emphasized that celebrating diversity strengthens national unity and contributes to the progress of the country.

Rang-e-Azadi: Digital Art Competition Celebrating the Spirit of Independence

The Directorate of Student Affairs, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), in collaboration with the Square Off Gaming Club, organized “Rang-e-Azadi,” a specialized Digital Art Competition on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day. The competition was open to all students of FJWU and provided a creative platform for students to express their perspectives on freedom, resilience, and national pride through digital visual storytelling.

Promoting contemporary creativity while maintaining high artistic standards, the competition focused exclusively on digital art mediums. To ensure creative integrity and originality, a strict “No AI” policy was enforced, requiring participants to submit original, human-created digital artwork. Submissions were collected through a formal online submission link and subsequently evaluated by an online jury.

The event was hosted by Zainab Raza, Vice President of the Square Off Gaming Club, under the supervision of the club’s focal person, Ms. Kinza Yasmeen. The competition received enthusiastic participation from students, showcasing their creativity and patriotic spirit through diverse digital artworks.

Following the jury evaluation, the winners were announced as follows:
