Pottery Painting Workshop at National Art Gallery Engages FUSH Students

Creativity | Art for Therapy | Self-Expression | Visual Arts

The Art Society of Foundation University School of Health Sciences (FUSH), in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), hosted a Pottery Painting Workshop at the National Art Gallery for around 110 students.

As part of PNCA’s “Art for Therapy” series, the hands-on workshop encouraged creativity, traditional artistic expression, and self-expression while promoting mental well-being. Students also visited Gallery Sadequain and the newly inaugurated Quaid Gallery at PNCA.

Participants created their own hand-painted pottery pieces, making the activity a meaningful experience in creativity, artistic expression, and appreciation of visual arts.

Photography Skills | Visual Storytelling | Cultural Documentation | Experiential Learning

Ms. Maryam Tanveer Lecturer Department of Arts & Media, Foundation University School of Science & Technology organized a Photo Walk at Andrun Old City, Rawalpindi, in summers 2026, providing BCA 5th, BSMC 8th Semester students with an opportunity to strengthen their practical photography skills through experiential learning.

The activity focused on developing students’ understanding of composition, framing, perspective, lighting, visual observation, and photographic storytelling. Students explored the historic streets, architecture, cultural elements, textures, and everyday life of the old city, capturing its character through their individual photographic perspectives.

The PhotoWalk encouraged students to move beyond classroom-based learning and engage directly with their surroundings, enabling them to observe, interpret, and communicate visual stories through photography.

The activity reflects the Arts & Media Department’s commitment to experiential learning and developing students’ creative and technical skills through practical exposure.

Brig (Retd) Professor Tariq Sarfraz, FUSH, was invited as a Delegate and Speaker to conduct a Dermatopathology Session at the International Histopathology Slide Seminar, organized by the Histopathology & Cytopathology Society of Pakistan (HCSP) and the International Academy of Pathology (IAP).

Held on 8–9 August 2026 at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH & RC), Lahore, the seminar provided an international professional platform for knowledge exchange in histopathology and pathology.

The Allied Pool Department, Foundation University Islamabad School of Science & Technology (FUSST), organized a panel discussion titled “Pakistan @79 to Pakistan @100 (2047): Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future through Inclusive Governance, Constitutional Values, and Citizen Participation” on 27 August 2026 at the FUSST Seminar Hall.

The event was held under the directions of the Rector, FUI, and in line with HEC priorities on civic engagement, constitutional awareness, responsible citizenship, youth development, and national contribution. Maj. Gen. Prof. Dr. Qudrat Ullah Malik, HI(M) (Retd.), Acting Rector, FUI, graced the event as Chief Guest.

The distinguished panel comprised Senator Farhatullah Babar, Dr. Sadia Kamal, Mr. Zafar Ullah Khan, Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, Mr. Haris Khalique, and Dr. Talat Shabbir. The event was attended by Registrar Dr. Amir Gulzar, FUI, Brig. Imran Ahmed Khan, SI(M) (Retd.), Director FUSST, Director Marketing, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students.

The discussion explored Pakistan’s journey towards 2047, constitutional values, rule of law, democracy, inclusive governance, citizen participation, youth engagement, human rights, social justice, tolerance, pluralism, national cohesion, and the role of universities in developing informed and responsible citizens.

The event provided a platform for critical thinking, academic dialogue, and civic engagement, emphasizing a collective national vision based on constitutionalism, inclusive governance, democratic participation, social cohesion, and youth empowerment.

The Board of Faculty meeting of the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Foundation University Islamabad (FUI), was held on 10 August 2026 at the Video Conference Room, chaired by Prof. Dr. Saima Ehsan, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences.

The meeting welcomed external expert Dr. Humaira Jami, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. The Department of Psychology presented its Vision and Mission for approval, aligned with FUI’s Vision and Mission, while the Departments of Arts & Media and English presented proposals on curriculum revisions, standardized course codes, and curriculum transformation in the context of Industrial Revolution 5.0.
