Small Steps Towards a Plastic-Free Pakistan
A total ban on plastic is a complex challenge. In Pakistan, different laws and regulations have been introduced at federal and provincial levels, ranging from broad restrictions on plastic to more targeted bans on single-use plastic bags, particularly those below 75 microns. Thicker plastic bags are generally considered more suitable for reuse and recycling.

🇵🇰🌿 These were not just trees… they were a living tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan! 🌿🇵🇰

On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence celebrations, FARZ, in collaboration with EPA Punjab Rawalpindi, organized a special plantation drive in Dhoke Hassu.

📅 The plantation campaign continued from 14th to 20th August, during which more than 350 plants were planted.

🌳 The plantation included:
🍎 Fruit-bearing plants
🌿 Non-fruit-bearing plants
🌳 Shade trees

To ensure better protection and survival, plants measuring approximately 3, 4, and 5 feet were planted. Volunteers at each plantation site were also encouraged and assigned the responsibility of protecting and caring for the plants.

🤝 The plantation drive was made possible with the valuable support and collaboration of Railway Corporation, IOW Department, Tauheed Welfare, and Railway Colony Welfare Alamabad.

The event was attended by Ms. Sadia Batool, Deputy Director EPA Punjab Rawalpindi, along with her team; Mr. Atta ur Rehman Qureshi, CEO FARZ; members of the Peace Committee Dhoke Hassu Rawalpindi ; Mr. Muhammad Ali from the IOW Department; and other respected participants and volunteers.

🇵🇰❤️ This year, FARZ dedicated this special plantation campaign to the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces, as a tribute to their sacrifices and love for the homeland.

Every tree planted carries a message…

🌳 Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
🌳 Their memories will continue to live on.
🌳 And these trees will stand as a symbol of remembrance for generations to come.

This plantation drive was not only an effort to create a greener and healthier environment but also a commitment to honour our heroes and build a better future for generations to come.

It was an honor for our youth members to participate in the webinar "Voices From South Asia: Strengthening Civic Space for CSOs/NPOs to Operate – Webinar 1: Regional CSO Perspectives on FATF Recommendation 8," organized by Community World Service Asia and Human Security Collective. The webinar brought together civil society representatives and development professionals from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Maldives, providing an excellent platform for regional dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration on strengthening civic space.

Representing Pakistan, Ms. Rani Hashmi, Executive Member of FARZ and Member of the Peace Committee, Dhoke Hassu, participated alongside Mr. Atta Ur Rehman Qureshi, CEO of FARZ, through Zoom. The session offered valuable insights into FATF Recommendation 8, the role of civil society organizations, and the importance of regional cooperation. A heartfelt appreciation to Community World Service Asia and Human Security Collective for organizing such a well-structured, informative, and impactful webinar. The professionalism of the organizers, the quality of the discussions, and the opportunity to engage with participants from across South Asia made this event truly enriching. Looking forward to more such meaningful learning and networking opportunities.
