Grammar plays a huge role in the English language in general; and it is the backbone of OET writing in particular. If you tick all the boxes off the OET writing checklist, but fail to use grammatically correct sentences, your letter will be nothing but a mess.
You must keep the following tips in mind to level up your writing game! ✨
🌟 Use passive voice to set the tone of the letter.
🌟 Use appropriate tenses.
🌟 Keep a 70/30 ratio of simple and complex sentences respectively.
🌟 Make use of punctuations appropriately as it can entirely change the meaning of the sentence.
🌟 Learn to use basic *connectors/linkers* inorder to make your writing more coherent.
🌟 Establish a comfortable switch between nouns and pronouns to avoid repetition.

There are essentially 5 types of letters you may encounter during OET writing. It is important for you to understand the sender-recipient algorithm before you dive into the technique of attempting each one.
• REFERRAL LETTER : It is a letter written by GP to a specialist OR from a rural to an urban setting for further management.
• DISCHARGE LETTER : It is a letter written by a specialist to a GP explaining the discharge plan and regular treatment regimen to continue.
• TRANSFER LETTER : It is a letter written by a GP to a specialist, transferring the patient in another clinical setup.
• UPDATE LETTER : It is a letter written by a specialist to a GP, updating him about his patient's current condition.
• EMERGENCY LETTER : It is basically a sub-type of referral letter. It is written by a GP referring the patient to an emergency specialist for urgent assessment and management.

Organizing the letter correctly counts a lot while you write. The reader wants a letter that is well formed, crisp and concise yet the one that delivers all the important information.
