The Department of Botany extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Abdul Qadir, a valued faculty member of the Department of Botany, on the successful completion of his PhD from Lanzhou University, China.
His doctoral research, entitled “Effects of Fresh Manure and Compost on Soil Quality, Microbial Metabolism, and Carbon Sequestration Mechanisms in Dryland Farmland of Northwest China” addresses one of the most pressing global challenges—sustainable agriculture and climate change mitigation.
During his PhD studies, Dr. Abdul Qadir contributed to several high-impact international publications in prestigious journals, including Applied Soil Ecology, Journal of Environmental Management, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Environmental Research, Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, and Soil & Tillage Research.
His outstanding scientific achievements reflect dedication, perseverance, and excellence in research, bringing honor to his institution and contributing valuable knowledge to the fields of soil science, microbial ecology, carbon sequestration, and sustainable agriculture.
We wish Dr. Abdul Qadir continued success in his academic and professional journey and look forward to his future contributions to science and society.

The Department of Botany, University of Poonch Rawalakot, successfully organized a seminar on “Wild Edibles to Wellness: Transforming Indigenous Plants into Next-Generation Nutraceuticals and Therapeutics for Food and Health Security” We were honored to have Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad T.I. (Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad) as the guest speaker, whose insightful talk highlighted the nutritional and health importance of wild edible plants.
We are also thankful to Prof. Dr. M. Abdul Rauf Khan (Dean FBAS) and Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Hussain (Registrar, UPR) for their gracious presence and continued support. The seminar was funded by HEC under NRPU, and the active participation of faculty members and students made the event a great success.
