"Language is not merely sound — it is memory, identity, and the echo of entire civilizations."
Today, our event “Storytelling, Language Origin, and Diversity in Southern Punjab” blossomed into a powerful celebration of linguistic heritage, cultural wisdom, and student creativity.
The session began with the spiritual grace of the Holy Quran’s recitation and a melodious Naat, setting a sacred tone. This was followed by remarkable presentations from BS English 2nd semester on the origin of language in Sikhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam — each offering scholarly insight into how religions perceive language as divine, spiritual, and transformative.
Our 3rd semester storytellers captured hearts with their self-written tales — one wrapped in mystery, the other resonating with emotional depth and friendship.
Most vibrantly, BS English 5th semester took us into the linguistic landscapes of Sindhi, Punjabi, Saraiki, Thori, Mahar, Chinese, and Yemeni communities through interviews and documentaries. These ethnographic presentations gave voice to the lived realities of language and culture in Southern Punjab and beyond.
We were deeply honored by the presence of our respected faculty: Dr Majid Rashid, Mr Waheed Shahzad sb, Miss Ishrat Ramzan, Miss Hafiza Saba, Miss Qurat-ul-Ain, Miss Aimen Ali, Mr. Faizan-ul-Hassan, Mr. Fazal Abbas, and above all, our chief guest, the visionary Director Of Institute of Humanities and Arts, Dr. Muhammad Anwar Farooq.
Dr. Anwar Farooq’s concluding speech became the soul of the event. He not only praised the students’ efforts, calling their work “a mark of academic maturity and the spirit of true scholarship,” but also emphasized the inherent dignity of every language and every culture. He urged us to carry this passion forward, stating:
"ہم ثقافت کی گاڑی میں بیٹھ کے الفاظ سے معنی تک کا سفر طے کرتے ہیں"
(We ride the vehicle of culture, journeying from words to meanings.)
His words left a lasting impression, elevating the significance of our work and inspiring us to embrace linguistic and cultural diversity with deeper respect.
A special note of gratitude goes to Sir Muhammad Muneebullah, the torchbearer of this vision. It was his brilliant idea, unwavering support, and dedicated mentorship that made this event possible. His belief in the power of language and student potential turned this concept into a meaningful reality.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants, followed by tokens of gratitude presented to our esteemed guests — a humble acknowledgment of their time and support.
