Today, a representative delegation from the Pashto, Balochi, Brahui, and Hazargi Academies called on the President of the National Party and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch. The central General Secretary of the National Party, Mir Kabir Muhammad Shahi, and Member of the National Assembly, Phulin Baloch, were also present on the occasion. The delegation provided a detailed briefing to Dr. Malik regarding the academies' fundamental and legal concerns over the proposed "Balochistan Regional Languages Academies and Literary Societies Bill 2025."
During the briefing, the delegation clarified that these academies are autonomous bodies registered under the "Societies Registration Act 1860," and bringing them under bureaucratic control would be equivalent to stifling their intellectual freedom and academic essence. Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch fully endorsed the academies' stance, declaring them "national assets" and agreeing that mother tongues are the true core of our identity.
Dr. Malik Baloch assured the delegation that he would meet with the Chief Minister of Balochistan to convince him that the affairs of these academies should remain in the hands of writers, scholars, and intellectuals, as academic work can never be subjected to administrative dictates. Praising the decades of scholarly services rendered by the academies, he stated that to promote our languages, these institutions must be further empowered rather than being taken over by the government. The delegation reaffirmed its resolve to raise its voice on every democratic and legal forum to protect their scholarly and literary heritage, vowing not to allow any infringement on their autonomous status.
