Tahira Qazi joined Army Public School in 1995 as Head of the English Department and became its principal in 2006. For nearly four decades, she dedicated her life to educating children — shaping minds with compassion, discipline, and quiet strength.

On the day of the APS tragedy, she stood firm in front of danger. According to an injured student, her last words were: “They are my children and I am their mother.” She laid down her life protecting the very students she considered her own.

Those who knew her describe a woman of grace — outwardly composed, inwardly deeply kind. In recognition of her sacrifice and service, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly renamed its conference room in her honour.

Tahira Qazi’s courage is not just remembered — it is revered.

Restoring Social Services and Climate Resilience/PPAF

The CPD team conducted the Disaster Risk Management (SBDRM) training at Smart School, Airport road Campus, Quetta, with 47 students and teachers participating. The session focused on developing school safety plans, conducting mock drills, providing safety tips, and promoting environmental awareness and disaster preparedness. Participants were equipped with practical knowledge on hazard identification, evacuation procedures, and proactive risk reduction measures, strengthening both individual and institutional capacity to respond effectively to emergencies. This training contributes to building a safer and more resilient school environment, fostering a culture of preparedness among students and staff, and reinforcing long-term disaster resilience within the community.
