POLICE SCHOOL OF EXPLOSIVE HANDLING

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being the front line province in the war against terrorism has sustained the most casualties of both the civilians and police personnel due to excessive use of explosives, especially Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), by the terrorists operating in KP. Keeping in view the security situation and magnitude of the threat a full-fledged Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) was established with its bases in all the districts of the province.

To cater for the continuous training needs of the DBU staff and to enhance the capacity of the police officers and officials under the capacity building component of the Strategic Framework, KP police established Police School of Explosive Handling on the direction of IG KP, Mr. Nasir Khan Durrani, in February 2015.

Police School of Explosive Handling is the first of its kind in Pakistan. The school has trained more than 1561 police officers / officials in different bomb detection, disposal and post blast investigation / evidence collection courses offered under the supervision of highly qualified specialists from across the country.

RAPID RESPONSE FORCE (RRF)

Rapid Response Force (RRF) is a force, of highly motivated and trained police officers and jawans, which is responsible to immediately respond to situations like terrorist attack, hostage situation and major police encounter. All the officers / jawans of the unit have undergone Elite training and are highly skilled in the use of all types of heavy weapons. RRF has all the necessary equipment, appropriate firepower and fast means of mobility to respond to any situation in appropriate manner and in the shortest possible time. The unit has recently been equipped with the most sophisticated APCs. This unit was raised on the direction of IGP KP, Mr. Nasir Khan Durrani, in the year 2014.
