خیبر میڈیکل یونیورسٹی (KMU) انسٹیٹیوٹ آف ہیلتھ سائنسز، کوہاٹ نے 8 اور 9 جون 2026 کو پہلی بین الاقوامی کانفرنس برائے ہیلتھ سائنسز اینڈ نرسنگ (IHSANcon 2026) کامیابی کے ساتھ منعقد کی۔ کانفرنس کا موضوع "عالمی صحت میں جدت: تحقیق اور عملی میدان کے درمیان فاصلے کو ختم کرنا" تھا۔

یہ تاریخی کانفرنس خیبر میڈیکل یونیورسٹی پشاور کے وائس چانسلر اور ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر ہائر ایجوکیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ خیبر پختونخوا، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ضیاء الحق کی سرپرستی میں منعقد ہوئی، جنہوں نے سرپرستِ اعلیٰ (Patron-in-Chief) کی حیثیت سے کانفرنس کی قیادت کی، جبکہ ڈائریکٹر KMU انسٹیٹیوٹ آف ہیلتھ سائنسز کوہاٹ، ڈاکٹر عدنان خان نے سرپرست (Patron) اور چیف آرگنائزر* کے طور پر کانفرنس کے انعقاد کی نگرانی کی۔ یہ جنوبی خیبر پختونخوا میں خیبر میڈیکل یونیورسٹی کے زیر اہتمام منعقد ہونے والی اپنی نوعیت کی پہلی بین الاقوامی کانفرنس تھی، جس میں پاکستان سمیت مختلف ممالک سے ماہرین صحت، محققین، اساتذہ، طلبہ اور پالیسی سازوں نے شرکت کی۔

افتتاحی تقریب میں پرنسپل KIMS اور سی ای او لیاقت میموریل ہسپتال و ڈی ایچ کیو ٹیچنگ ہسپتال کوہاٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مسرت جبین، پرنسپل KMU انسٹیٹیوٹ آف ڈینٹل سائنسز کوہاٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر فہیم اللہ اور پروفیسر آف کمیونٹی میڈیسن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اشتیاق نے بطور مہمانانِ خصوصی شرکت کی۔ مقررین نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ صحت کے شعبے میں تحقیق کو عملی میدان سے جوڑنا، بین الشعبہ جاتی تعاون کو فروغ دینا اور جدید ٹیکنالوجی کو طبی تعلیم اور علاج میں شامل کرنا وقت کی اہم ضرورت ہے۔

کانفرنس کے پہلے روز مختلف عملی ورکشاپس اور ہینڈز آن ٹریننگ سیشنز منعقد کیے گئے جن میں ارٹیفیشل انٹیلی جنس (AI) ان ہیلتھ کیئر اینڈ مینو اسکرپٹ رائٹنگ، انفیکشن پریوینشن اینڈ کنٹرول (IPC)، فلیبوٹومی، الٹراساؤنڈ، سٹیچرنگ اور خون لینے کی جدید تکنیکوں پر تربیت دی گئی۔ ان عملی سیشنز نے شرکاء کو جدید طبی مہارتیں سیکھنے اور انہیں عملی طور پر آزمانے کا موقع فراہم کیا۔

کانفرنس کی نمایاں سرگرمیوں میں ڈاکٹر عدنان خان کی جانب سے منعقد کی گئی "Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare & Manuscript Writing" ورکشاپ خصوصی توجہ کا مرکز رہی۔ ڈاکٹر عدنان خان نے شرکاء کو بتایا کہ مصنوعی ذہانت کس طرح بیماریوں کی بروقت تشخیص، میڈیکل امیجنگ، کلینیکل فیصلہ سازی، صحت کے ڈیٹا کے تجزیے، ریسرچ، سائنسی تحریر اور طبی تعلیم میں انقلاب برپا کر رہی ہے۔ انہوں نے جدید AI ٹولز کے عملی استعمال کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے بتایا کہ کس طرح یہ ٹیکنالوجی لٹریچر ریویو، ریسرچ پلاننگ، شماریاتی تجزیہ، سائنسی مقالہ نویسی، بین الاقوامی جرائد میں اشاعت اور ریسرچ کی معیار کو بہتر بنانے میں معاون ثابت ہو سکتی ہے۔ انہوں نے نوجوان محققین کو اعلیٰ معیار کی تحقیق، پبلیکیشن ایتھکس، مناسب جرائد کے انتخاب، ریویورز کے تبصروں کا مؤثر جواب دینے اور بین الاقوامی تحقیقی تعاون کے حوالے سے بھی تفصیلی رہنمائی فراہم کی۔ اس ورکشاپ میں اساتذہ، ڈاکٹرز، نرسز، محققین اور طلبہ نے بھرپور دلچسپی کا اظہار کیا۔

کانفرنس کے دوسرے روز قومی اور بین الاقوامی ماہرین نے کلیدی خطابات پیش کیے جن میں ڈاکٹر عدنان خان، ڈاکٹر مارک ڈائمن سانتوس (قطر)، ڈاکٹر اوچیچکو لیوی اوسواگوا (آسٹریلیا) اور ڈاکٹر جارجیوس پونیراکس (ویِل کارنیل میڈیسن، قطر) شامل تھے۔ مقررین نے عالمی صحت، نرسنگ لیڈرشپ، تحقیق، جدید طبی ٹیکنالوجی اور ایویڈنس بیسڈ پریکٹس کے مختلف پہلوؤں پر روشنی ڈالی اور شرکاء کے ساتھ اپنے علمی تجربات شیئر کیے۔

کانفرنس میں بین الاقوامی اور قومی سطح کے تحقیقی مقالے اور پوسٹرز بھی پیش کیے گئے جن میں خواتین کی زچگی، اینٹی مائیکروبیل ریسرچ اور نوجوانوں میں ڈیجیٹل آئی سٹرین جیسے اہم موضوعات زیر بحث آئے۔ ان تحقیقی سرگرمیوں نے شرکاء کو جدید تحقیق سے آگاہ کرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ سائنسی مکالمے کو بھی فروغ دیا۔

کانفرنس سے قبل ڈاکٹر عدنان خان کی سربراہی میں Pre-IHSANcon 2026 Satellite Workshop Series کا بھی کامیاب انعقاد کیا گیا، جس کے تحت جنوبی خیبر پختونخوا کے مختلف اضلاع میں پانچ خصوصی تربیتی ورکشاپس منعقد ہوئیں۔ یہ ورکشاپس LIMS چوکارہ (کرک)، الممتاز کالج آف نرسنگ بنوں، KMU-IHS لکی مروت، ایپکس انسٹیٹیوٹ آف میڈیکل سائنسز ڈیرہ اسماعیل خان، اور KMU-IHS ڈیرہ اسماعیل خان میں منعقد کی گئیں۔ ان میں فرسٹ ایڈ، فلیبوٹومی، بلڈ گروپنگ، وینی پنکچر، درست بلڈ پریشر کی پیمائش اور بیسک لائف سپورٹ (BLS & CPR) جیسے اہم موضوعات پر عملی تربیت فراہم کی گئی۔ ان سیٹلائٹ ورکشاپس کے ذریعے سینکڑوں طلبہ اور صحت کے شعبے سے وابستہ افراد کو جدید طبی مہارتیں سکھائی گئیں، جس سے کانفرنس کے علمی اور تربیتی اثرات پورے جنوبی خیبر پختونخوا تک پھیل گئے۔

کانفرنس میں تقریباً 150 شرکاء نے شرکت کی، جن میں مختلف جامعات، تدریسی ہسپتالوں، نرسنگ کالجز اور دیگر طبی اداروں سے تعلق رکھنے والے ڈاکٹرز، اساتذہ، محققین اور طلبہ شامل تھے۔ کانفرنس نے تحقیق، جدت، بین الشعبہ جاتی تعاون، عملی تربیت اور قومی و بین الاقوامی علمی روابط کو فروغ دینے میں نمایاں کردار ادا کیا۔

کانفرنس کے کامیاب انعقاد کا سہرا ڈاکٹر عدنان خان اور ان کی پوری آرگنائزنگ ٹیم کے سر جاتا ہے، جس میں مسٹر اکرام اللہ، مسٹر پریس انور، ڈاکٹر مناہل سلیم گنڈاپور (او ڈی)، مسٹر فہد الرحمن* سمیت اساتذہ، رضاکاروں اور مختلف انتظامی کمیٹیوں نے بھرپور خدمات انجام دیں۔

اس موقع پر ڈاکٹر عدنان خان نے کہا کہ IHSANcon 2026 صرف ایک کانفرنس نہیں بلکہ جنوبی خیبر پختونخوا میں صحت کے شعبے میں تحقیق، جدت، بین الاقوامی تعاون اور پیشہ ورانہ ترقی کے فروغ کی جانب ایک تاریخی قدم ہے۔ انہوں نے اس کامیابی کو پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ضیاء الحق کی وژنری قیادت اور مسلسل سرپرستی کا نتیجہ قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ ان کی حوصلہ افزائی کی بدولت KMU-IHS کوہاٹ مستقبل میں بھی بین الاقوامی معیار کی علمی سرگرمیوں کے انعقاد اور صحت کے شعبے میں تحقیق و جدت کے فروغ کے لیے اپنا کردار ادا کرتا رہے گ

Bangladeshi High-Level Delegation Visits KMU to Explore Strategic Academic and Research Partnerships

A high-level academic delegation from leading Bangladeshi universities visited Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration in higher education, research, innovation, and capacity building. The delegation was warmly received by KMU's academic leadership and faculty.

The delegation comprised distinguished professors, deans, vice chancellors, directors, and academic leaders from renowned institutions including the University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, Chittagong University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Jahangirnagar University, North South University, BRAC University, Southeast University, and the Asian University of Bangladesh. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rubina Nazli, Senior Dean of KMU, and attended by deans, directors, heads of institutes, and senior faculty members from across the university.

During the session, Dr. Zohaib Khan, Director ORIC, presented an overview of KMU’s academic and research achievements. He highlighted the university’s rapid expansion through more than 20 campuses and academic centers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, bringing quality health sciences education closer to underserved communities. He also shared that KMU has secured significant national and international research grants, strengthening its position among Pakistan’s leading research-intensive universities.

Dr. Khan described the KMU Hospital & Research Centre as a landmark initiative that has made KMU the first public-sector university in the province to establish its own independent teaching and research hospital. He further noted that nearly 18 percent of KMU students benefit from scholarships and financial assistance programs. The delegation was also informed that the introduction of e-examination and e-file systems has enabled KMU to become the province’s first fully paperless public-sector university.

The visiting academics highly appreciated KMU’s remarkable growth, academic excellence, research contributions, and innovative initiatives. They expressed keen interest in developing partnerships through faculty and student exchange programs, joint research projects, academic networking, and collaborative innovation initiatives.

Both sides emphasized the need to transform discussions into practical outcomes and agreed to pursue concrete collaborative measures. It was decided that Prof. Dr. Jalil Khan would serve as KMU’s focal person for advancing cooperation with Bangladeshi institutions.

The delegation reaffirmed the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh and underscored the importance of academic diplomacy, collaborative research, and people-to-people engagement in addressing shared challenges and promoting regional development. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to building sustainable partnerships that will benefit students, researchers, and institutions in both countries. #

Empowering Youth to Save Lives: KMU & The Blood Heroes Mark World Blood Donor Day .

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, The Blood Heroes, in collaboration with the Institute of Public Health & Disease Management (IPDM), Khyber Medical University (KMU), organized an awareness seminar on "Normalizing Voluntary Blood Donation."

The seminar brought together 220 students from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, creating a vibrant platform for youth engagement through awareness talks, an interactive panel discussion, quiz sessions, and meaningful conversations on voluntary and female blood donation. The event aimed to dispel common misconceptions and inspire a culture of regular, voluntary blood donation among young people.

The event was graced by Prof. Sabih Ahmed, a Super Donor with 157 lifetime blood donations, who attended as the Chief Guest and inspired participants through his remarkable commitment to saving lives.

The seminar featured insightful presentations by Dr. Huma Riaz, Associate Professor of Hematology at HMC; Dr. Yasar Yousafzai, Dean, IPDM, KMU; Dr. Gulalai Arshad, Founder and Director of The Blood Heroes; Usama Khan, Provincial Representative of The Blood Heroes; Dr. Nayab from IPDM, KMU; and Dr. Inayat Shah, Dean, IBMS, KMU. Their expert perspectives emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation, public awareness, community engagement, and the collective responsibility of ensuring a safe and sustainable blood supply.

The panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Syed Shakeel Badshah, Co-Founder of The Blood Heroes, encouraged an engaging and thought-provoking dialogue on strategies to normalize voluntary blood donation across communities.

One of the most inspiring moments of the seminar was the heartfelt testimony of Farhan Usman, a thalassemia fighter from Peshawar, who shared his personal journey and highlighted the life-saving significance of regular voluntary blood donations for patients dependent on lifelong transfusions.

The event concluded with a blood donation camp organized in collaboration with the Regional Blood Centre, reinforcing the message that awareness must be translated into meaningful action.
