The two-day event on “Arsenic in Soil–Food System: Understanding Pathways and Impacts”, held on 28–29 April 2026, has been successfully concluded.

The event was inaugurated by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar and brought together distinguished resource persons and participants from:
• University of Haripur
• University of Peshawar
• Anhui Polytechnic University
• University of Trakiya
• Federal University of Rio Grande, Brazil

Over the course of the event, insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and collaborative engagement highlighted the critical issue of arsenic contamination in soil and its implications for food systems and human health.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this event a great success.

🎉 Congratulations on Successful Ph.D. Defence! 🎉

Ms. Shazia Gulzar, a PhD scholar at NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar, has successfully defended her PhD thesis on “Identification of suitable sites for rainwater harvesting facilities and natural aquifer recharge using geospatial techniques in Panjkora River Basin”. The study was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Ali, Assistant Professor at NCEG. Dr. Hammad Gilani from NUST, Islamabad and Dr. Asad Ullah from the University of Peshawar were the external examiners for the said PhD defense.

We wish her the best of luck for future endeavors

The National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG) is pleased to announce the successful completion of MS research work by Muhammad Rashid, MS Scholar in Geospatial Science.

His thesis, titled “A Comparative Analysis of Fuzzy Logic and AHP Techniques for Identification of Groundwater Potential Zones in the Peshawar Valley,” represents a valuable contribution.

This research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Ali, Assistant Professor, National Centre of Excellence in Geology. He was cosupervised by Prof. Dr Liaqat Ali, Director, NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar. The thesis was externally examined by Dr. Said Qasim, Professor, Department of Geography, University of Balochistan, Quetta.
