Department of Political Science, Islamia College Peshawar

The Department of Political Science is pleased to announce that Ms. Tabinda (Session 2022–2024) has successfully completed her MPhil degree under the supervision of Dr. Faiza Bashir.

Her research thesis, titled “Impact of Demographic Change on the Politics of Chitral,” makes a valuable contribution to the understanding of political transformations influenced by demographic shifts in the region.

The thesis was evaluated by Dr. Amir Raza, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar, who served as the external examiner.

The Department extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ghazala Rafi, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Islamia College, Peshawar, on the successful defence of her Ph.D. dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Ayub Jan.

Her research, “Living the Anthropocene: An Ethnographic Study of Habitability, Environmental Policy, Capitalist Discourse After the 2005 Earthquake in Balakot, Pakistan,” stands as a valuable scholarly contribution.

The chairman and faculty of the department appreciate Abdul Rehman, student of 4th semester (Sec B), for representing youth of Kurram.

Mr. Waseem Sajad, has successfully defended his MPhil Thesis under the supervision of Dr. Amir Ullah, (HOD)and External supervision of Dr. Minhas Majeed from the University of Peshawar (UOP). His research topic was "Current Wave of Militancy in Lower Chitral: Causes and Solutions."

This study aimed to investigate the underlying causes of militancy in Lower Chitral and explore potential solutions to address this complex issue. Mr. Sajad's research contributes significantly to the understanding of militancy in the region and provides valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders.

Congratulations to Mr. Waseem Sajad on this remarkable achievement! His dedication and perseverance have paid off, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours

Ms. Husan Jamal, MS Scholar at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, successfully defended her MS thesis titled "Ramifications of the Saudi-Iran 2023 Rapprochement on the Sunni-Shia Conflict in Pakistan" on March 13, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Bilal Shaukat.
