بزرگ سنایا کرتے تھے کہ ایک شخص سے بہت سارے لوگ دوستی کا دم بھرنے لگے تو اس کے والد نے کہا ۔۔
بیٹا ! ہر دوست کہلانے والا شخص ، دوست نہیں ہوا کر تا ؛ بڑی جانچ پڑتال کے بعد کسی کو دوست سمجھنا چاھیئے ۔
پھر باپ نے ایک دُنبہ ذبح کرکے بوری میں بند کیا جس سے خون ٹپک رہا تھا، اور بیٹے سے کہا ۔۔
یہ اپنے دوستوں کے پاس لے جاؤ ، اور اُنہیں کہو۔۔
’’مجھ سے قتل ہوگیا ہے، میری مدد کرو ‘‘
پھر دیکھو وہ کیا جواب دیتے ہیں ۔
بیٹے نے بوری اٹھائی اور رات کو ایک دوست کا دروازہ جا کھٹکھٹایا ۔
دوست نے پوچھا خیریت ہے؟
کہنےلگا ۔ یار مجھ سے قتل ہوگیا ہے ، نہ لاش ٹھکانے لگانے کی جگہ مل رہی ہے، نہ سر چھپانے کی ؛ میری کچھ مدد کرو !
دوست نے مدد کے بجائے ٹال دیا ، کہ تُو جانے اور تیرا کام جانے ، میں تیرے ساتھ کیوں پھنسوں ۔
وہ دوسرے ، تیسرے ، چوتھے ، الغرض سب دوستوں کے پاس گیا لیکن کسی نے بھی اُسے اپنے گھر میں پناہ نہ دی ۔
وہ مایوس ہوکر والد کے پاس آیا اور کہا۔
اباحضور ! آپ درست فرماتے تھے ، واقعی وہ میرے دوست نہیں تھے ، جو مصیبت کا سن کر ہی بھاگ گئے ۔
والد نے کہا: بیٹے میرا ایک دوست ہے، اور زندگی میں مَیں نے اس ایک کو ہی دوست بنایا ہے ؛ اب تُو یہ بوری لے کر اس کے گھر جا اور دیکھ وہ کیا کہتا ہے؟
بیٹا اس کے گھر پہنچا اور اسے وہی کہانی سنائی، جو اپنے دوستوں کو سنائی تھی۔
اس نے بوری لے کر مکان کے پچھواڑے میں گڑھا کھود کر دبا دی، اور اوپر پھول لگا دیئے تاکہ کسی کو شک نہ ہو۔
بیٹے نے باپ سے آکر سب کچھ بیان کیا اور کہا:
اباجی آپ کا دوست تو واقعی سچا دوست ہے۔
باپ نے کہا:بیٹا ! ابھی ٹھہرجاؤ، اتنی جلدی فیصلہ نہ کرو ۔
کل اُس کے پاس دوبارہ جانا اور اس سے بدتمیزی کرنا ، پھر جو ردِ عمل ہو وہ آکر مجھے بتانا ۔
بیٹے نے ایسے ہی کیا ........... گیا ، اور اس سے بد تمیزی اور لڑائی کی۔
اس نے جواب میں کہا:
اپنے والد سے کہنا فکر نہ کرے ، تمھارا دوست " چمن " کبھی نہیں اُجاڑے گا ۔
( مطلب جو پودے لاش کے اوپر لگائے ہیں وہ سدا لگے رہیں گے ، انھیں کبھی نہیں اکھاڑوں گا ۔
یعنی تیرے بیٹے کی بدتمیزی کو دیکھ کر اس کا راز کبھی فاش نہیں کروں گا ، کیوں کہ میں تیرا دوست ہوں )
