Institute of Nursing Sciences Sarhad University

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Bannu and Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology, Peshawar, at Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital, Bannu.

The agreement focuses on providing paid internship opportunities for nursing students to gain practical experience in a real hospital environment.

The MoU was formally signed by Ms. Zaifa Gul, Nursing Director at MTI Bannu, along with the leadership of Sarhad University. Representing the Institute of Nursing Sciences, Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology, Peshawar, were Director Ms. Shaheen Ghani, Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ghani, and Assistant Professor Mr. Noor Zaman Khan. Dr. Iftikhar Ullah, Hospital Director MTI Bannu, was also present on the occasion.

The primary objective of this collaboration is to enhance practical training opportunities for nursing students, enabling them to develop their professional skills and competencies in a clinical setting.

This initiative is expected to not only strengthen the clinical abilities of students but also improve the overall standard of patient care within the hospital. Well-trained nursing professionals will play a vital role in advancing healthcare services and ensuring better medical facilities across different regions.

MTI Bannu remains committed to integrating education with practical training, aiming to establish a system where students receive high-quality learning opportunities while the public benefits from improved healthcare services.

𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

Please note that as per the directives issued by the 𝐇𝐄𝐂, Islamabad, the Competent Authority has approved the following decisions for academic activities:

• All academic activities/classes will be shifted to 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞-𝐭𝐨-𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 (𝐨𝐧-𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬) mode of education w.e.f 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

• The scheduled 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 will continue till 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

• A 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫-𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 will be observed (Monday to Thursday) with office timings:
Morning: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Evening: 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Schedules of exams and meetings will be adjusted accordingly (excluding Fridays and Saturdays).

This is to inform all students that the Institute of Nursing Sciences, Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology, Peshawar will remain closed from Thursday, 19ᵗʰ March to Monday, 23ʳᵈ March 2026 on account of Eid-ul-Fitr and Pakistan Day. During this period, all on-campus academic and administrative activities will remain suspended.

𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒

Students are further informed that the Spring-2026 Semester will commence from 24ᵗʰ March 2026 through online mode. All students are advised to attend their classes online according to their respective schedules and stay connected with their instructors for academic updates.

The 𝑶𝒃𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒙𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 (OSCE) for 7th semester Bachelor of Science in Nursing students, for the subject 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 (CCN), was conducted at the 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔, Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (SUIT), Peshawar.

The OSCE, organized as a practical examination for the subject, consisted of four different stations, each designed to evaluate important clinical skills and knowledge related to critical care nursing. At every station, students were required to analyze clinical scenarios, demonstrate appropriate nursing procedures, and apply their theoretical understanding in simulated patient care situations under the supervision of faculty members.

This structured examination provided students with an opportunity to strengthen their clinical skills, improve critical thinking, and build confidence in managing critical care situations. The successful completion of the OSCE reflects the Institute’s commitment to practical learning, fair assessment, and maintaining high standards in nursing education.

In a significant recognition of academic excellence and professional leadership, Ms. Shaheen Ghani, Director of the Institute of Nursing Sciences at Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology, Peshawar, has been selected as a permanent member of the Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC), Islamabad.

Ms. Ghani’s appointment is particularly distinguished as she has been chosen to represent the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Her selection to the apex regulatory body for nursing and midwifery in the country underscores her exceptional contributions to the field of nursing education and healthcare.

Sarhad University community has welcomed the news with immense pride, viewing it as a testament to the institution's commitment to quality education and professional development.

This achievement is not only a personal honor for Ms. Ghani but also brings laurels to Sarhad University. Furthermore, it stands as a moment of pride for the entire nursing fraternity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and, indeed, for the profession across Pakistan. Her presence at the PNMC is expected to provide strong representation for the province at the national level, contributing to policy-making and the advancement of nursing and midwifery standards in the country.

Mr. Gulshan Iqbal and Mr. Farooq Aziz, MS Scholars in Nursing at the 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔, Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (SUIT), 𝑷𝒆𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓, successfully completed their viva voce examinations, fulfilling the requirements for the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree under the Faculty of Life Sciences.

Mr. Gulshan Iqbal’s examination was guided by Mr. Ihsan Ullah as the Internal Supervisor, with Mrs. Afsha Awal Khan, former Principal of the Farkhanda Institute of Nursing, serving as the External Examiner.

Mr. Farooq Aziz was supervised by Ms. Shaheen Ghani, Director of Nursing, Institute of Nursing Sciences, SUIT, Peshawar, while Mr. Awal Khan, former Director Nursing of the Hayatabad Medical Complex, acted as the External Examiner.

These viva voce examinations highlighted the students’ scholarly abilities and practical knowledge, reflecting their rigorous preparation, the guidance of their supervisors, and the Institute’s ongoing dedication to fostering research, academic growth, and excellence in nursing education.

The (OSCE), held as the final exam for the subject, was organized into four stations, each designed to assess essential nursing skills and practical knowledge relevant to the foundational curriculum. Students demonstrated competencies in core nursing procedures, patient care techniques, clinical reasoning, and professional behavior under the structured observation of experienced faculty members.

This examination provided a valuable opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, receive immediate feedback, and strengthen their clinical confidence. The 𝑽𝒊𝒗𝒂 𝑽𝒐𝒄𝒆 Examination of Mr. Abbas Daudzai, MS Scholar in Nursing at the 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔, Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (SUIT), 𝑷𝒆𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓, was successfully completed as part of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) under the Faculty of Life Sciences.

The viva voce examination was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ihsan Ullah as the Internal Supervisor, while Mr. M. Aurang Zeb, Assistant Professor at Khyber Medical University, served as the External Examiner.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫, 5th Semester (Section B), conducted their Community Health Nursing II (CHN II) visit to 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐊𝐡𝐞𝐥, 𝐏𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫 under the supervision of senior lecturer 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐧 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐧. During the visit, students explored multiple schools in the area, engaging with children to raise awareness about hygiene, sanitation, and healthy lifestyle practices. They organized interactive sessions, encouraged discussions, and spent time playing with the students to make learning enjoyable.

This experience strengthened their ability to communicate health messages effectively and deepened their understanding of the community’s health needs while enhancing teamwork and teaching skills.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫, 5th Semester (Section C), conducted their Community Health Nursing II (CHN II) visit to 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐨 𝐊𝐡𝐞𝐥, 𝐏𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫 under the guidance of senior lecturer 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐧 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐧. During the visit, they went to several schools where they interacted with students, shared lessons on hygiene and disease prevention, and spent quality time playing and engaging with the children.

This hands-on experience allowed the students to better understand the health needs of the community, while improving their skills in communication, teaching, assessment, and teamwork.
