UO hosts NCT accreditation team for BEMS review

A delegation of the National Council for Tibb (NCT) visited the University of Okara (UO) on Monday to conduct an accreditation assessment of the Bachelor of Eastern Medicine System (BEMS) programme, as part of the Council’s quality assurance and regulatory evaluation process.
The delegation was headed by Hakim Muhammad Ahmad Saleemi, President, NCT, while Hakim Zulfiqar Ali Malik, Member NCT, and Hakim Rizwan Asif, Co-Opted Member, NCT, were also part of the assessment team.
The visiting delegation was facilitated and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wajid, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Fahim Arshad, Chairperson, Department of Traditional and Alternative Medicine, with support from Dr. Nidaa Harun and Dr. Naila Mukhtar, Assistant Professors of Botany.
During the visit, the NCT team conducted a comprehensive assessment of the BEMS programme, reviewing its academic curriculum, faculty strength and qualifications, teaching and learning practices, laboratory facilities, infrastructure, library resources, student support services and institutional arrangements. The team also examined the facilities and academic resources available for the effective delivery of professional education and training in Eastern Medicine.
On behalf of the university, Mr. Raza Hassan Tariq, Consultant for the BEMS Programme, gave a detailed presentation covering the programme’s academic structure, curriculum, objectives, teaching methodologies, laboratory resources, faculty expertise, student activities and future academic development plans.
The assessment also provided an opportunity for constructive academic interaction between the NCT delegation and university faculty, with discussions focusing on further strengthening academic standards, improving professional training and enhancing the quality of the BEMS programme.
According to the University Spokesperson, the launching of the BEMS program reflects the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mubin’s vision of aligning the aspirants of higher education with the needs and demands of the modern world. Earlier, the UO established an Eastern Medical Centre at the campus in collaboration with Qarshi Foundation. That centre is catering the medical needs of not only the university students and staff but also the entire population of Okara.
The university administration and faculty expressed their appreciation to the NCT delegation for conducting the accreditation assessment and for providing valuable professional observations and recommendations.

Naat, Qiraat competitions add spiritual colour to UO

Today, Naat and Qiraat competitions were held at the University of Okara (UO) in connection with the commemoration of Rabi-ul-Awal, providing students an opportunity to express their devotion and reverence through recitation of the Holy Quran and Naats.
The event was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA) under the supervision of Dr. Shoaib Saleem, Director Student Affairs, and Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Additional Director Student Affairs.
A total of 18 students participated in the Naat competition, while eight students took part in the Qiraat competition. The participants demonstrated impressive talent, devotion and confidence.
In the Naat competition, Aleezay Akbar from the Department of Computer Science secured first position, while Musawar Ali of the Department of Communication Studies stood second and Shafaqat Abbas of the Department of Zoology secured third position.
The Qiraat competition also featured enthusiastic participation from students, including Ihsan Al Asri from the Department of Communication Studies, Abu Huzaifa Alhazrmi from the Department of Islamic Studies, and Hafiz Muazzam from the Department of Computer Science.
The Qiraat competition was judged by Dr. Zaid Lakhwi and Dr. Asif Iqbal, while the Naat competition was evaluated by Muhammad Salim Niazi, a renowned Naat Khawan and recipient of the President's Award, and Dr. Lubna Kanwal.
The competitions reflected the university's commitment to providing students with platforms for showcasing their religious, cultural and intellectual talents while fostering respect for Islamic traditions and values.

Psychology lecturers interviews held at UO

The University of Okara’s (UO) Selection Board today conducted interviews for candidates for the posts of Lecturers in Psychology.

The Selection Board was Chaired by Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mubin, Vice Chancellor, University of Okara. The core members of the Board included Mr. Mazhar Ali Khan, Member Syndicate, former Federal Secretary and former Member FPSC; Mr. Salman Ghani, Member Syndicate, Group Executive Editor, Daily Dunya and Head of Political Affairs, Dunya News; Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Shahid, Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Gujrat; and Dr. Uzma Rafique, Educationist, Government of the Punjab.

Distinguished psychology experts also participated in the selection process, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem, Chairman, Department of Applied Psychology, The Islamia University Bahawalpur, and Prof. Dr. Syeda Salma Hasan, Chairperson, Department of Psychology, Government College University Lahore. Mr. Sohail Asghar, Chairperson, Department of Psychology, University of Okara, also participated as the Chairperson of the concerned department.

The subject experts assessed the candidates with particular focus on their academic qualifications, subject knowledge, teaching competence, research credentials and professional suitability.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mubin emphasized the UO’s commitment to merit, transparency and academic excellence in faculty recruitment. He said that the induction of competent and highly qualified faculty was essential for further improving the quality of teaching, research and academic development at the university.

The participation of senior academics and subject specialists underscored the university’s commitment to maintaining a rigorous and merit-based selection process.

UO steps up Food Science faculty recruitment

The University of Okara’s (UO) Selection Board conducted interviews today for candidates for the posts of Assistant Professors and Lecturers in Food Science and Technology, as part of the university’s ongoing faculty recruitment process.

The Board was Chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mubin, while Mr. Jamil Asim, Registrar, served as Secretary. The core members inuded Mr. Salman Ghani, Executive Group Editor of Dunya News; Mr. Mazhar Ali Khan, Former Federal Secretary; Dr. Ramzan Shahid, Assistant Professor of International Relations at University of Gujrat; and Ms. Uzma Rafique, an eminent educationist.

The interviews were conducted in the presence of distinguished subject experts from the field of Food Science and Technology, including Prof. Dr. Sanaullah Iqbal, Chairperson, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore; and Dr. Muhammad Ammar Khan, Associate Professor and Head of Food Wastage Control, Department of Food Science and Technology, Islamia University Bahawalpur.

The subject experts evaluated the candidates on their academic qualifications, teaching experience, research credentials, subject knowledge and overall professional competence.

The Selection Board emphasized merit, transparency and academic excellence in the recruitment process. The participation of renowned subject specialists reflected the UO's commitment to ensuring a rigorous and professionally sound selection process for strengthening its academic faculty.
