Have you ever noticed how your heart begins to change, when you stay away from religious gatherings and the seeking of knowledge for some time?

Your heart almost resembles a flower that starts to dry out and crumble. You start wasting your time on meaningless things and the emptiness inside you grows. The longer you stay away from the light, the more difficult it becomes to return to it. You become more lazy and it is as though you have less and less time to spare.

But when you do return to seeking knowledge and gatherings of Allah, suddenly you will feel your time grow. Your heart will expand again and start to become alive. Your mood becomes better and you feel more energized. The transformation takes place in the heart, but the body and mind can also feel it clearly.
Allah can awaken even the most crumbled of hearts and He can shower endless light upon it. Hold on to what is good for you, even when you are tempted to stay away.

This is why it is so important to have a routine and to stick to it, a routine that is realistic and that balances between time for Allah, time for your family, for your physical health and your work. A routine is a security system set in place against our nafs and Shaytan.
