From the Mountains of Dir to the Global Academic Stage – The Remarkable Journey of Dr. Saqlain Hassan
Dr. Saqlain Hassan is a distinguished scholar whose inspiring journey from a remote town in Pakistan to international academic recognition highlights the power of perseverance and dedication.
At the age of just 27, Dr. Saqlain achieved the remarkable milestone of becoming Pakistan’s youngest PhD holder in Corpus Linguistics, earning his degree from the University of Navarra in Spain. By the age of 29, he made history once again by becoming the country’s first and youngest post-doctoral researcher in Corpus Linguistics and Sentiment Analysis at NTNU in Norway.
However, his contributions extend beyond academic titles. Dr. Saqlain is passionately committed to the preservation of Pakistan’s endangered languages. His efforts to document and compile dictionaries for these languages play a crucial role in safeguarding the nation’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Riphah International University, Dr. Saqlain’s research has been published by the globally respected Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group — a significant achievement for both himself and Pakistan.
“It’s not about where you start; it’s about where your determination takes you,” says Dr. Saqlain.
The Anglo American English Centre proudly honours Dr. Saqlain Hassan as a beacon of inspiration for the youth and a passionate advocate for linguistic preservation.
