A Focus group discussion was hosted by Character Building Society (CBS) on the role of youth in Countering Violent Extremism.It was arranged by Associate Prof Noureen Azfar( Incharge CBS) whose efforts brought together diverse voices to explore how youth can lead positive change.The moderator of this discussion was Zarghona Khalil, Lecturer in Psychology. She discussed the Psychological aspect behind Extremism.
Among the Panelists were Miss Rehana, Miss Shafaq, Miss Hina, Miss Jaweria and Students of Political Science Dept who shared different perspectives regarding youth extremism exploring social, economic and cultural factors that drive radicalization. The discussion highlighted how youth can drive change through community engagement, digital literacy, and promoting inclusive narratives.Participants emphasized empowering young people with resources and platforms to challenge extremist ideologies. One key takeaway was the power of peer-to-peer dialogue – youth connecting with youth to build resilience against radicalization.
In the end Principal Rozina Rehman shared her view point highlighting the need for institutes to foster critical thinking and inclusivity and shed light on the role of parents and teachers.Overall it was a very impactful and thoughtful discussion.
