Government Schools During a recent visit to the Govt. Girls school in the Nankana Sahab, the severity of of the situation reared it ugly head.

For many years, people have complained about the deplorable conditions of Government schools of Pakistan, and for the most part, the complaints of concerned parents have either fallen on deaf ears or been dismissed as nonsense by those responsible for the maintenance of such institutions. The entrance to school, a rusty old gate, with the schools' name painted over it by hand was a sign of things to come. Students here lack even the most basic of amenities, and what they do have is falling apart due to a lack of maintenance. They don't even have a playground , only a large patch of mud to play in instead. The classrooms do not fare much better, with each one crammed full of broken desks and chairs caked in dirt and rust and broken blackboards. Attendance is recorded on a separate blackboard on the wall instead of actual registers. The quality of the classrooms matches that of the education, with most teachers being underpaid and lacking any training. For the future of those who lack the resources to attend private schools, something must be done to get the government to provide these schools with whatever they need to not only survive, but thrive.
