Seminar on “Nanozerometals for Wastewater Treatment” Held at the Department of Chemistry UAJK Muzaffarabad on April 28, 2026:
The Department of Chemistry, University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, King Abdullah Campus, organized an insightful seminar on “Nanozerometals as a Sustainable Choice for Wastewater Treatment” on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Seminar Hall. The session highlighted innovative, cost-effective solutions to water pollution and water-borne diseases in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The seminar was chaired by *Prof. Dr. Bilal Ahmad Khan, Chairman, Department of Chemistry, UAJK. Prof. Dr. Ansar Yasin, Director Planning, UAJK, Dr. Muhammad Naeem Ammed Director ORIC, UAJK and Dr. Zahid Majeed, Chairman, Department of Biotechnology, UAJK, participated as distinguished guests and appreciated the department’s initiative in promoting research on environmental sustainability.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Noor Samad Shah, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus. Dr. Shah, who has published more than 100 research papers in reputed international journals, delivered a detailed talk on the potential of nanozerometals in water purification.
Dr. Shah explained how nanozerometals serve as sustainable and economical materials for removing toxic pollutants, heavy metals, and pathogens from wastewater. He shared recent breakthroughs in nanotechnology that can provide safe drinking water to communities affected by water contamination. The speaker stressed that such innovations are vital for Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, where clean water access remains a major public health challenge.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Bilal Ahmad Khan said the Chemistry Department is committed to arranging such academic events to keep faculty and scholars updated with emerging global research trends. Prof. Dr. Ansar Yasin assured full administrative support for collaborative projects.
The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Sallah Ud Din, Associate Professor (Tenured), as Focal Person. A large number of faculty members from the Department of Chemistry along with PhD, MPhil, and BS students actively participated. The event concluded with an interactive question-answer session followed by a vote of thanks.

موجودہ عالمی صورتحال کی وجہ سے وزیراعظم پاکستان کی طرف سے اعلان کے مطابق ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن پاکستان نے تمام یونیورسٹیوں کو آن لائن کلاسز کے لیے ڈائریکشن دی تھی۔ جامعہ کشمیر مظفرآباد نے بھی 16 مارچ 2026 سے آن لائن کلاسز شروع کرنے کا نوٹیفکیشن جاری کر دیا۔ تمام متعلقین آگاہ رہیں۔
