*Air Vice Marshall Steve Joseph (1921–1996)*

​Born in 1921 to Dr. Joseph of Peshawar, AVM Joseph belonged to a family of Armenian descent. The family had migrated to Peshawar following a period of political friction with the Afghan Royal Family, eventually establishing themselves in the North-West Frontier.

​He received a prestigious education at two of the region's most historic institutions:
​Lawrence College, Ghora Gali (Murree)
​Government College, Lahore.

​He joined the Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF) and earned his commission in 1941, serving through the pivotal years of World War II and the subsequent transition of the subcontinent's air forces.

​His brother, Brigadier Derrick Joseph, was a highly distinguished officer in the 13 Lancers (13L) of the Pakistan.

​AVM Joseph embraced Islam and married a Pathan lady. He passed away in 1996 at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy of service that spanned a unique period of history.
