A Hypernova, also known as a collapse, is the name given to a special type of mega energy supernova produced by an extremely large star at the end of its life cycle. The main difference between supernova and hypernovae is the amount of matter inside. The Supernova trigger until they form a star, for example, but the hypernovae release all their matter during the explosion. They usually occur in stars with a mass greater than 30 solar masses. As in a supernova, as the star runs out its fuel can no longer support itself under its own gravity and consequently, due to the mass limit, it collapses directly into a hole black. Later, it sends matter in all directions. This releases more energy in seconds than our sun in its entire life of 10 billion years. It's a real source of gamma rays.
Gamma Ray Bursts
Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) are the most violent explosions in the Universe. They are the brightest electromagnetic events known to occur in the universe. These bursts can last from ten milliseconds to several hours. After an initial flash of gamma rays, a longer-lived "afterglow" is usually emitted at longer wavelengths (X-ray, ultraviolet, optical, infrared, microwave and radio). The amount of energy released in a fraction of a second from a GRB is greater than the energy our Sun emits in its entire stellar lifespan.
There are several current theories about the possible causes of gamma-ray bursts. One explanation proposes that they are the result of colliding neutron stars.
A second theory proposes that gamma-ray bursts are the result of a merging between a neutron star and a black hole or between two black holes.
