Camouflage is incredibly common in the animal kingdom, and there are a few ways to go about doing it. While many prefer to blend in with their surroundings or look like a more fearsome predator, Mesalcidodes trifidus takes another approach: it literally looks like crap. Nicknamed the “bird p**p weevil,” M. trifidus clings tightly to leaves or grass in hopes that a predator will assume the small black and white blob is actually just a pile of bird droppings.

subtropical rain forests of Southeast Asia, the Atlas Moth is the largest moth on Earth. Female Atlas Moths are considerably larger than males, boasting a wingspan of 10-12 inches. The beautiful patterns on the Atlas Moth's wings are brown and auburn in color and appear similar to snake skin. These insects are often cultivated for their silk, which is said to be stronger than the average moth can produce. Additionally, in Taiwan, Atlas Moth cocoons have been used as change purses.

The Giant Walking Stick can be found living on trees and bushes in areas with warm climates. This enormous insect can grow up to 14 inches long, and has the ability to regenerate parts of its body that are damaged or severed. As big as these creatures are, you would have to look pretty closely to notice one hanging from a branch as you walked by. This is because the Walking Stick is one of the oldest living insects on the planet and has evolved expert camouflage to seamlessly blend into its surroundings. In fact, the Walking Stick is so-called because it looks almost exactly like a stick with legs.
