Multiple PhD Positions – Digital Agriculture & Robotics (NSF + USDA Projects)
We are recruiting multiple PhD students to join two new NSF- and USDA-funded projects aimed at advancing next-generation digital agricultural systems.
Research Themes:
1️⃣ Autonomous greenhouse systems integrating physics-informed models, plant-centered sensing, adaptive & reinforcement-learning control, digital twins, and vision-guided robotics to optimize crop growth and resource efficiency.
2️⃣ Distributed multi-agent field robotics where heterogeneous robots use learning-based perception, decentralized control, and crop-interaction models to optimize field sensing, interventions, and crop-state evolution.
Preferred Background:
* Strong computational foundation (control + machine learning required)
* MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
* Experience in learning-based control or precision agriculture
* Exposure to plant sciences is a plus

Students of the 7th Semester, Department of Agricultural Engineering, BZU, participated in an insightful one-day study tour to the Multan Waste Management Company. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of modern waste management systems and their role in environmental sustainability.
During the trip, students visited:
🚛 MWMC Head Office, Multan
– Briefing on the organizational structure, waste collection strategies, and urban sanitation challenges.
🏙️ Main City Solid Waste Transfer Station
– Live demonstration of waste segregation, compaction, and transportation operations.
🌱 Habiba Sial Landfill Site
– Hands-on exposure to landfill engineering, leachate management, environmental monitoring, and safe disposal practices.
Such field experiences help bridge the gap between theory and practice and provide students with practical insights into sustainable municipal waste management.

🚜 Educational Field Visit to A&N Farms – Head Muhammad Wala, Multan 🌾
Students of 5th and 7th Semesters, Department of Agricultural Engineering, BZU Multan, had a wonderful learning experience during their visit to A&N Farms yesterday.
During the visit, students observed the Center Pivot Irrigation System in action along with various modern farm operations and mechanized agricultural practices. The visit provided valuable practical exposure, helping students connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications.

🌾 Visit of CSS 53rd Common Trainee Officers to the Department of Agricultural Engineering, BZU 🌾
The Department of Agricultural Engineering, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, had the pleasure of hosting the CSS 53rd Common Trainee Officers on 28th October 2025.
During their visit, the officers toured the departmental laboratories and engaged in insightful interactions with faculty members and students. They also visited the Women Development Center for Mechanized Agriculture and the Wetland Facility for Wastewater Treatment at BZU.
The trainee officers highly appreciated the department’s efforts in promoting sustainable agricultural practices, innovation, and hands-on learning for future engineers. 🌱✨
