Curriculum

At BISS, our focus is on the development of the child as a whole. We believe that without trimming the rough edges of one’s personality, you cannot claim to build a strong character, for that you have to tailor their talents and personalities. Using the content of the National, International Curriculum and 21st century, inquiry-driven education of the highest standard, we aim to inspire young individual to develop their intellect, creativity and character to grow into adaptable socially responsible global citizens.

Play Group-Pre-Primary-Primary-Secondary Years

Our early childhood education programme is focused on developing children’s skills through activity-based teaching methods.
Language reading exercises, vocabulary development, story time, nursery rhymes, phonics.

Class room are characterized by a stimulating, caring and relaxed atmosphere. Students learn to take risks and explore their world through concrete experience. They learn to deal with their feelings, become responsible make decisions and gradually become independent.

The Pre-primary years teachers strive to provide an exciting and stimulating environment where the needs of the whole child are nurtured. Respect for the uniqueness of each child is key, with every child’s developmental level considered and accommodated. Learning through doing, conceptual learning and creativity are the control to our beliefs . Work and play are interchangeable, and all class-room experiences yield learning opportunities.

Assessments

At BISS, we have four main methods of assessment:

1. End of topic test – short written tests to measure the grasp of the subject matter and some process skills.
2. Tutor assessment – carried out at intervals during the course to assess progress and developed skills.
3. Pre-exam assessment – in each of the three school terms.
4. Formal examinations – in each of the three school terms.

School examination results are clearly indicated on student reports, so parents are fully aware of their child’s progress. We conduct parent and teacher meetings at regular intervals during the school year to discusses student progress, student examination results and general academic performance.
