💫WUMUN’26 Opens at The Women University Multan with a Strong Call for Youth Leadership, Diplomacy and Responsible Citizenship

The Women University Multan formally inaugurated WUMUN’26 — All Pakistan Model United Nations Classic Edition 2026, bringing together students and young delegates from universities, colleges and schools on a dynamic platform for diplomacy, debate, leadership and intellectual exchange. The event was organized by the WUM Debating & Declamation Society (WUM-DDS) in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Affairs, under the guidance of Dr. Adeela Saeed, Director Student Affairs. The event was attended by senior faculty members and students.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool formally inaugurated the grand WUMUN’26 by striking the ceremonial hammer, officially declaring the proceedings open. Welcoming the participants, she said it was a pleasure and honour to host young delegates from diverse educational institutions at The Women University Multan.
In her address, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that young people represent the country’s future leadership and must be given meaningful opportunities to strengthen their confidence, communication, critical thinking and decision-making abilities. She said WUM strongly values student participation and continues to promote academic and co-curricular platforms that help young people grow into informed, responsible and capable citizens.
Highlighting the focus of WUMUN’26, Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool said the event centred on four important areas: women’s rights, women’s empowerment, international peace and security, and diplomatic representation. She expressed hope that the discussions and activities would broaden participants’ perspectives and improve their leadership, communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the efforts of the WUM Debating & Declamation Society and the Directorate of Student Affairs for providing students with a meaningful platform for dialogue and learning. She urged the participants to remain persistent in pursuing their goals and to develop patience and tolerance, qualities she described as essential for both leadership and responsible citizenship.
She said, “A good leader must be a good listener, a thoughtful planner and a patient decision-maker. Whatever role you hold, always remain mindful of the responsibilities attached to it.” She further encouraged the youth to learn from setbacks, continue striving with determination and contribute positively to society.
Ayesha Batool, President of the WUM Debating & Declamation Society, welcomed the participating delegates and highlighted WUMUN’26 as an opportunity for young people to engage in informed discussion, exchange diverse perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of contemporary national and international issues.
The event featured structured Model United Nations deliberations, giving participants practical exposure to diplomacy, public speaking, negotiation, critical analysis and collaborative problem-solving. WUMUN’26 reflected the university’s commitment to nurturing confident, articulate and socially responsible young leaders prepared to engage thoughtfully with the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world.
