The Aga Khan School, Mirpur Sakro was established in 1963 as a two-room community-run night school for girls by Mr. Dino Mehdi. There weren’t many schools in the area at that time and the community felt the need for a special provision for girls.
Since then, the school has undergone major transformations and today it is a full-fledged high school for both boys and girls.
As the school’s popularity grew soon after its establishment, it turned into a regular primary school and then a middle and a high school. With the growing number of students and classes, the community felt a need for a proper school campus. In the mid-1970s, a member of the Mirpur Sakro community donated land on which an 8-room building was constructed with the generous funding from a charitable trust. Later, 6 more rooms were added to the school building.
The school was also made co-educational in 1985.
In 2005, AKES,P built a new, much larger school campus on land donated by the community so that there would be ample space for all the required facilities, including playgrounds.
In 2020, the AKES,P assumed management of a community-based school in the nearby village of Vur which is now a satellite campus of Aga Khan School, Mirpur Sakro. The satellite campus functions as a primary campus from which students get seamless transition to Aga Khan School, Mirpur Sakro in class 5.
Currently, almost 400 students are enrolled in Aga Khan School, Mirpur Sakro from pre-primary to grade 10 and they are taught by 30 well-qualified and trained teachers.
