The Department of Computer Science, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, successfully organized the “SmogNet Datathon 2026” in collaboration with Code for Pakistan and Bircube Technologies.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman, Chairman, Department of Computer Science, who highlighted the importance of innovation, data science, and technology-driven solutions for real-world environmental challenges.
Keynote remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and emphasized the role of youth, research, and emerging technologies in addressing societal and environmental issues.
A special address was delivered by Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Senior Manager & CFP Representative, who encouraged students to use data-driven approaches and innovation for civic engagement and environmental problem-solving.
In his speech, Mr. Asad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bircube Technologies, motivated participants to leverage technology and data science for impactful innovation and community-driven solutions.
The event brought together 115 students forming 23 teams from different universities, providing a strong platform for applied data science, collaboration, innovation, and civic engagement focused on real-world smog-related challenges.

The Department of Electrical Engineering successfully conducted a one-day workshop on AVR Microcontrollers by Atmel (Embedded Systems) on May 21, 2026, at the Embedded Systems Lab, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan.
The workshop was organized under the supervision of Engr. Abdullah Farman and Engr. Mian Muhammad Amir Ayaz with the aim of providing students with practical exposure to embedded systems and AVR microcontroller programming.
Participants from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering actively participated in the session and gained hands-on experience in:
* ATmega Architecture and Registers
* GPIO and Peripheral Interfacing
* Timers and LED Toggling
* SPI Communication Protocols
* ADC and Sensor Integration
* Hands-on Practical Projects
The workshop provided students with valuable practical knowledge and enhanced their understanding of embedded systems through interactive learning and implementation-based activities.

🚫 Building a Drug-Free Future: UETM Hosts Awareness Session on Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking
The Directorate of Clubs and Societies, UETM and the Anti-Drug Committee UETM, in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), organized an Awareness Session on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 20 May 2026 to educate students on the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of prevention.
The informative session was delivered by Deputy Director Muhammad Zafar Iqbal from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), who highlighted different types of drugs, their causes, impacts on individuals and society, and the vital role of educational institutions in promoting awareness and combating drug abuse.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan, along with Dr. Jalal Khan (Chief Proctor & Convener, Anti-Drug Committee UETM) and Mr. Fawad Khan (Convener, Clubs & Societies UETM). In his concluding remarks, the Hon. Vice Chancellor emphasized awareness regarding both traditional substance abuse and emerging challenges such as digital addiction and excessive social media use. He further encouraged engaging students in healthy campus activities and supporting innovative student projects aimed at identifying and preventing drug-related activities to promote a safe, healthy, and drug-free campus environment.
The session concluded with a group photo and an awareness walk, spreading the message of collective responsibility toward building a healthier, informed, and drug-free society.

The Department of Natural Sciences & Humanities, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, successfully organized another session of the NSH Seminar Series on the topic:
“Career Development & Professional Growth for University Students.”
The session was conducted by Hafiz Amir Zeb (PhD Scholar in Education & USA Certified Trainer), who shared valuable insights on leadership, professional ethics, CV writing, interview skills, time management, and personal productivity.
The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Murtaza Ali, Chairman of the Department of Natural Sciences & Humanities, who presented a certificate and shield to the guest speaker and delivered the concluding remarks. Distinguished faculty members Mr. Fawad Khan, Mr. Fayaz, Salman Nasir, Mr. Aizaz and Miss Laila also attended the seminar.
The seminar encouraged students toward personal and professional growth while providing practical guidance on effective time management and CV writing.

The students of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan successfully organized a seminar titled “Today’s World: Current Geopolitics & Its Impact on Engineering Society” on 18th May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, New Academic Block, UET Mardan.
The seminar was conducted under the supervision of Engr. Muhammad Yasir, Lecturer & Batch Advisor, and focused on the impact of global geopolitics on engineering practices, infrastructure development, supply chains, technology, and future opportunities for engineers.
Students actively participated in discussions on global conflicts, rising construction material costs, supply chain disruptions, and engineering challenges in today’s interconnected world.
The Department appreciated the efforts of the organizing team including Muhammad Saad Rafiq (Team Leader), Sajawal Anjum (Team Manager), Iqra Bibi (Organizer), and Humra Waheed (Research Lead).

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan successfully organized a One-Day Workshop on “Introduction to Python Programming for Mechanical Engineers” on 19 May 2026.
The session was delivered by Engr. Arsalan (Lecturer, MED) and provided participants with practical insights into Python programming applications in mechanical engineering.
The event was coordinated by Engr. Faiq Said (Lab Engineer, MED) as Event Management Coordinator.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the speaker was presented with a certificate by Dr. Asad Ullah. (Chairman, MED)
