Event: Khatm-ul-Quran and First Year Orientation Day.
Venue: Government Degree College Toru Mardan, Main Hall
Today, an Orientation Day for first-year students was organized in the Main Hall of Government Degree College Toru Mardan. The event began with a blessed Khatm-ul-Quran ceremony, creating a spiritual and inspiring atmosphere. The purpose of this ceremony was to familiarize newly admitted students with the college's academic system, discipline, ethical values and examination policies.
Presidential Address – Prof. Muhammad Asad (Principal, GDC Toru Mardan)
In his presidential address, Respected Principal Prof. Muhammad Asad welcomed the newly admitted students to the college and stated:
"My dear children! I am extremely happy to welcome all of you to Government Degree College Toru Mardan. This college is not just a place to earn degrees, but it is a center for your character building, personality development, and future construction.
I expect all of you to make punctuality, respect for teachers, and ethical values a part of your life. You have not come here only to gain bookish knowledge, but to become better human beings."
Discipline in College – Prof. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Chief Proctor) address:
Chief Proctor Prof. Mujeeb Ur Rahman addressed the students again, explaining the principles of discipline in college:
• Attendance is mandatory – Students with less than 75% attendance will not be allowed to sit in examinations.
• Dress code must be followed – Decent and dignified clothing is mandatory in college.
• Mobile phone usage is prohibited in classrooms and the library.
• Any kind of misbehavior, harassment, or fighting is strictly prohibited.
• Latecomers will not be allowed entry after the gate is closed.
Message on Academic Excellence – Prof. Nadar Shah
Prof. Nadar Shah delivered a comprehensive speech on Academic Excellence. The key points of his message were:
• Academic Excellence is not just about good grades but about deep understanding, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Every student should recognize their potential and clarify their mission.
• Continuous hard work, regularity, and seeking guidance from teachers are the keys to success.
• Study beyond textbooks, ask questions, and apply knowledge in practical life.
He explain struck policy and leave process too.
Examination System and Timetable – Prof. Zaki Ud Din (Controller of Examinations)
Prof. Zaki Ud Din, Controller of Examinations, briefed the students on the examination system, monthly tests, home examinations, and timetable.
He explained that:
• There will be monthly tests in all subjects every month.
• These tests ensure your continuous preparation for final exams.
• Pre-Board or Home Examinations will be held in February or March.
• These exams will prepare you fully for the Final Board Examinations.
• Their paper pattern, timing and environment will be exactly like the final board exam.
• He explain timetable to all students.
Character Building Society – Prof. Muhammad Rahman
Prof. Muhammad Rahman highlighted the establishment and importance of the Character Building Society:
• This society will promote students' ethical training, leadership skills and social responsibility.
• Various workshops and seminars will be organized under this initiative.
• Students will be provided opportunities for volunteering, debates and leadership training.
Closing Prayer – Prof. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Chief Proctor)
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prof. Mujeeb Ur Rahman offered a prayer for all students, teachers and staff:
"O Allah! Make this new academic session a source of success, blessings and happiness for all students. Accept their hard work, increase their knowledge and make them better individuals in this world and the Hereafter.
O Allah! Make our college a center of knowledge, a cradle of ethics and a beacon of success.
