Report: Visit of ZahirShah Toru to Government Degree College Toru Mardan.

Subject: Official Visit and Briefing on Educational Standards and Infrastructure.

Former Provincial Minister and current Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) for PK-57 Mardan-IV, Zahir Shah Toru, conducted a visit to GDC Toru Mardan to evaluate academic performance and address pressing administrative and infrastructural challenges. He was accompanied by Ilyas Toru, Senior Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

During the visit, the MPA meet with respected Principal Prof Muhammad Asad and faculty members. The agenda focused on:
• Institutional Performance: Review of operational efficiency.
• Educational Environment: Assessment of student learning conditions and teacher engagement.

The college principal highlighted several critical deficiencies:
• Infrastructure & Facilities: Shortage of classrooms and lack of basic amenities.
• Staffing: Significant shortage of teaching and administrative personnel, incomplete BS block/building.

Zahir Shah Toru emphasized the importance of education as a driver of societal progress and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening institutions. His key assurances included:
• Historical Significance: Recognition of Toru Degree College as a vital educational institution for the region.
• Modernization: Commitment to align the college with modern educational standards and provide improved facilities.
• Action Plan: Pledge to raise these issues with relevant authorities to ensure timely and effective solutions.
• Immediate Intervention: Honorable Zahir Shah Toru personally called the SDO of Communication & Works (C&W) Department to re-plan and restart construction work on the under-construction classroom building, ensuring that stalled development resumes without delay.

The visit concluded with a strong resolve to promote education in the area. The MPA expressed his ambition to transform GDC Toru Mardan into an exemplary institution, setting new standards for quality education in the region.
