Independence Day Celebrated with National Spirit and Patriotic Zeal at GPGC Mardan
Mardan, August 14, 2026: Government Post Graduate College (GPGC) Mardan celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and national pride.
The celebrations began on the eve of 14th August, when the college premises were beautifully illuminated throughout the night in green and white, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere and reflecting the spirit of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held in the morning at GPGC Mardan. Principal Prof. Muhammad Ibrar Akhundzada, District Youth Officer Saddam Khan, faculty members and their children participated in the ceremony. The national flag was hoisted amid a strong display of patriotism, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
Later, a special gathering was held at the Principal’s Office. The proceedings were conducted by Prof. Aurangzeb Shirazi, Professor of Urdu, who served as the stage secretary.
On the occasion, Prof. Husnur Rahman, Professor of Pakistan Studies, and Prof. Farman Ullah, Professor of History, delivered thought-provoking speeches highlighting the historical significance of Pakistan’s independence, the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers, and the responsibilities of the younger generation in strengthening the country.
Principal Prof. Muhammad Ibrar Akhundzada also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, education and dedication in building a prosperous and peaceful Pakistan. He appreciated the participation of faculty members, District Youth Officer Saddam Khan and their children in making the celebrations meaningful and memorable.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, marking the joy and spirit of Independence Day. The celebrations at GPGC Mardan reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting patriotism, national unity and a sense of responsibility among students and the wider college community.
