The Department of Botany was established in 2006. The research programs for M. Botanical garden of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants is in progress.

It is one of the research leading departments in the university engaged in a wide range of research activities. Phil and PhD degrees are spread over various disciplines, depending on the expertise of the faculty members which are as follows:

🌱 Seminar on “Healthy Soil for Healthy Cities”

Today, the Plantarian Association, QAU, had the honour of hosting an insightful seminar in celebration of World Soil Day 2025.

We were privileged to welcome our Honourable Dean, Dr. Irfan Zia, whose presence added great value to the event. The seminar formally began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, beautifully recited by Mr. Hazrat Anas, General Secretary (Male) of Plantarian Association.

Following this, Ms. Reham Jannat, General Secretary (Female), presented a meaningful introduction highlighting the global importance of World Soil Day.

Our keynote speaker, Dr. Shujaul Mulk Khan, and Current Students’ Affairs Advisor, Plant Sciences Department, delivered an enlightening talk on the history and importance of soil conservation. He emphasized this year’s theme—how healthy soils create healthier and sustainable cities—and discussed future environmental challenges and the role of youth in safeguarding soil health.

Our respected Dean, Dr. Irfan Zia, also addressed the audience and stressed the importance of soil management for environmental stability and sustainable development.

The Chairman, Plant Sciences Department, Dr. Hassan Javed Chaudhary, also elaborated on the theme “Healthy Soil, Healthy Life”, emphasizing how the wellbeing of societies depends on soil health.

We were further honoured by the insightful remarks of Professor Dr. Imtiaz, who discussed soil biodiversity, fertility, and ecological balance.

The President of the Plantarian Association Azhar Sultan highlighted the importance of student engagement and collective action in promoting soil conservation.

We were also pleased to have Dr. Muhammad Zafar, Course Coordinator, Plant Sciences Department, who joined us and graced the event.
Additionally, Mr. Ammar Asghar, Captain of the GYM Club, QAU, joined us and added value to today’s gathering.

On behalf of the Plantarian Association, QAU, we express our heartfelt gratitude to all our esteemed guests, respected faculty members, and dear students for joining us today (5 December).
