Colebrookea oppositifolia, commonly known as the Indian Squirrel Tail, is a large, aromatic shrub in the mint family (Lamiaceae) native to the subtropical regions of South and Southeast Asia. It is the only member of its genus, making it a monotypic species
Traditional and Medicinal Uses
In various folk medicine traditions, different parts of the plant are utilized for their bioactive properties:
Roots: Extensively used in traditional medicine to treat epilepsy and gastric ulcers.
Leaves: Applied to treat wounds, bruises, and eye conditions like conjunctivitis.
Stem/Bark: Used in preparations for coughs and as an antiseptic.
Fodder: Lopped in some regions as fodder for cattle

The Department of Botany at Hazara University Mansehra proudly announces the successful thesis defenses of *Mr. Afrasiyab Ahmed, a lecturer in Botany at Govt. Post Graduate College Mandian, Abbottabad, and Mr. Ubaid Ali (SS Biology) at GHSS No 1 Mansehra. Mr. Afrasiyab Ahmed completed his research under the supervision of the Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor and Chairman, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba Shah, while Mr. Ubaid Ali was supervised by Dr. Muhammad Azhar Khan. The thesis was evaluated by a distinguished panel including External Examiners Prof. Dr. Abbas Hussain Shah and Dr. Bibi Saima Zeb from COMSATS Abbottabad, alongside Internal Examiner Dr. Abdul Majid, these achievements highlight a deep dedication to botanical science. We extend our warmest congratulations to Mr. Afrasiyab Ahmed, Mr. Ubaid Ali, and their families on these significant academic milestones
