Story behind leaning of tower

The tower began to lean during construction in the 12th century, due to soft ground which could not properly support the structure's weight. It worsened through the completion of construction in the 14th century. By 1990, the tilt had reached 5.5 degrees.The structure was stabilized by remedial work between 1993 and 2001, which reduced the tilt to 3.97 degrees.

Aesthetics & Building

Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy concerning studies on the nature and expression of beauty or taste.
The aesthetics of a building is one of the principal aspects considered in architecture. Changes in the appearance of materials can differ due to kinetics of the responses related to the material resistance as well as due to intensity of the degrading factors.

Appearance
It means: ‘…the aspects of a building or place within the development which determines the visual impression the building or place makes, including the external built form of the development, its architecture, materials, decoration, lighting, colour and texture.
