It takes 10 years of life, with more than 12 hours a day of studying, to become a doctor after FSc in Pakistan. Doctors in Pakistan are overworked and underpaid, and disrespect toward them is also increasing day by day. In 2025 alone, a record 4,000 doctors emigrated from Pakistan, seeking better working conditions and respect abroad.
Estimates from the Pakistan Medical Association suggest there are now more than 600,000 fake doctors operating nationwide. These individuals often practice in unhygienic conditions, reusing equipment and misdiagnosing patients, which eventually floods tertiary care hospitals with ruined cases that could have been easily managed by a proper GP.
The tone the officer used in the video is totally unacceptable. People with zero medical knowledge cannot be allowed to make decisions regarding healthcare. A CT scan is not for entertainment, and no patient without proper need should be subjected to it. It has side effects, and only a doctor knows which patient needs it.
If doctors are not given respect according to the amount of effort and sacrifice needed to become one, the future of healthcare in Pakistan will be bleak.
