Young Journalists Conference in Glasgow - April 2014

The next generation of global journalists will gather in Glasgow, UK is a unique opportunity to connect to the Commonwealth Games, as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme.

The British Council will select 10 young people from across Pakistan who, on their return home, will help foster an ongoing relationship after the Games.

The selected students will be given an opportunity to participate in the Young Journalists Conference from 14-16 April 2014, where they will have an opportunity to interact with renowned journalists and learn from their experience. 300 Young people from over 14 countries including Jamaica, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Zambia and the UK Home Nations will take part in the conference.

During the conference, young journalists will have an opportunity to attend the workshops on various thematic areas related to journalism such as: what is news, Interview techniques, field reporting, media ethics, reporting on politics, reporting sports, and social media. The conference will help students to develop a batter understanding about Journalism as a profession.

These students will also be awarded certificates at the end of the conference.

How to enter

All you have to do is exhibit your writing skills.

Topic: “If you are to speak to a congregation of journalists from across the world about Pakistan, what would you say to them?”

You should submit your entry via email to: [email protected] with the subject line ‘Future News Competition Entry’.

Within the email you must include your full name, date of birth, home address, telephone number, email address and passport number with expiry date.

Entries must be submitted by Monday, 10 March 2014, no later than 5pm.

Successful entrants will be informed by email, no later than 20 March 2014.

The rules

You must be aged 16-19 and a resident of Pakistan.

You must be able to commit to attending the full conference (from April 14-16, 2014) and travel to Glasgow, UK.

Only one submission per applicant will be accepted and late entries will not be considered by judges.

3rd YOUNG STUDENTS CONFERENCE - LARKANA (December,2013)

Young Students Conference is an event that takes place annually in LARKANA-SINDH for 1 day. Each year we receives 140+ outstanding college & university students from around the SINDH together with different motivational speakers, corporate trainers, academicians.

The 3rd Young Students Conference, 2013 (SAP) will explore topics of local relevance and particularly applicable to the reality of Sindh-Pakistan. YOUTH ARENA expect that, through dialogue and the interaction between the current students and the future students, a contribution to the sustainable development of the region can be made.

Objective of JSC: JSC aims to engage secondary and higher school students from GOVERNMENT and PRIVATE schools of Larkana within multi-disciplinary context as they can develop their confidence and personal capacity. Foundation: We will provide a platform where energy is channelized to bring positive change. One day, effective and brainstorming training program specially designed for students aging from 10 to 16 years to develop and polish their skills. It leads students to set goals and plan their career accordingly, manage time and know the importance of courage and future. In JSC, variety of students from private and government schools of Larkana will initiate the process of continuous personal grooming and enrich their relationships at home and society.
