رات یوں تو جو ادا تیری تھی محبوبانہ تھی
پِھر بھی کیا شے اِک تری وہ چشمکِ بیگانہ تھی

جب سفر سے لوٹ کر آئے تو کِتنا دُکھ ہُوا
اُس پرانے بام پر ، وہ صورتِ زیبا نہ تھی

کیا فراقِ یار کے قصّے پہ آنکھیں نم کریں
دِل سے شعلے کا مُقدر ، صحبتِ دَریا نہ تھی

وہ کسی کی تیز نظریں تھیں ، اور اپنا ہی لہُو
گرمیٔ محفل کا باعث تندیٔ صہبا نہ تھی

کیسے اپنے حال کی اُن کو خبر ہوتی مُنیرؔ
خامشی دِیوار و دَر کی کچھ لبِ گویا نہ تھی
