A Thalassemia awareness seminar was held on 30th of November 2016 by Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Care Center (KITCC) in collaboration with Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences, ICBS. All students and faculty members of Health and Allied Sciences attended the seminar. The chairman and founder of KITCC told the students about importance of prevention of this potentially fatal blood disorder. A video clip of 7 minutes about the disorder and prevention was also shown to the audience. Dr. Waleed Bin Azhar, CEO Fatimid Foundation, Karachi said that awareness of such disorder should be spread in order to avoid sufferings associated with the disorder. The event was concluded by the Rector ICBS Dr. Saleem Shuja who thanked KITCC for conduction of such a meaningful session. Shields were presented to the speakers by Rector ICBS and Dean FHAS Dr. Ahmed Bilal Waqar. Free screening for Thalassemia trait of all the participants was also done after the seminar.
