"Learning Predictive Autoscaling Policies for Cloud-hosted Microservices Using Trace-driven Modeling"
by Muhammad Abdullah, Waheed Iqbal, Faisal Bukhari, and Abdelkarim Erradi is accepted for presentation and publication as a full research article in the "11th IEEE International Conference on Cloud Computing Technology and Science (CloudCom 2019)" to be held in Sydney, Australia on 11-13 December 2019.

CloudNet lab is hiring internees for four months. The selected students will need to spend at least 5 working hour per day in the lab. If you are a final year student of PUCIT and interested in this opportunity, fill the following form:

Cloud Computing and Networks Research Lab (CloudNet) was established in June 2015 at the PUCIT, Old Campus. Here is a brief summary of the lab activities since the inception of the lab:

- Students and faculty working with CloudNet lab has published 5 research papers including one IEEE Systems journal paper.
- 8 MPhil students completed their Thesis in the lab.
- 40 Undergraduate students completed their final year projects in the lab.
- The lab has submitted approximately worth 10 million rupees proposal to a funding agency.

Cloud Computing and Network's (CloudNet) Lab at PUCIT is looking for final year groups to start working on the following projects immediately:
1. SearchDeal.pk: Web-based consolidation of e-commerce stores operating in Pakistan. We have a basic system already online, check www.searchdeal.pk.

2. Urdu News Search Engine: Web and mobile based Urdu news search engine and analytics. We have a basic prototype already online, check www.newslink.pk

3. SocialBlood: A social network to donate and promote blood donations

4. ConnectMe: A voice-based social mobile app to connect people based on their interests

Now the CloudNet lab at PUCIT, old campus has a working private cloud using OpenNebula. Thank you Muhammad Abdullaha (MPhil student) to prepare the testbed for the experiments.

Currently the cloud can support to launch more than 64 virtual machines using 7 physical machines!

Cloud Computing and Big Data summer camp is concluded with project presentations. Students have done excellent work!! Although there was a great learning curve for the students to learn tools like Spark, HBase, Hadoop, NodeJS, and Lucene but still students developed good working prototypes.

A paper titled "On Providing Response Time Guarantees to a Cloud-hosted Telemedicine Web Service" of the CloudNet lab is accepted at CloudComp conference.
