On Monday, July 20, 2026, the BNU Center for Policy Research (BCPR) participated in a seminar held to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Pakistan–China Diplomatic Relations and the 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China, while also welcoming His Excellency Mr. Sun Yan, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Lahore.

The event brought together distinguished diplomats, policymakers, academics, and thought leaders for meaningful dialogue on the enduring Pakistan–China relationship and its evolving dimensions. The seminar was followed by a luncheon, providing an opportunity for further engagement and exchange among the distinguished guests and participants.

The event was hosted by Mian Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, Chairman, and Dr. Zafaruddin Mahmood, Founding President, Understanding China Forum, marking an important occasion to reflect on the longstanding ties between the two countries and the opportunities for strengthening bilateral engagement in the years ahead.

Highlights from Workshop II: Unity in Diversity (Phase III)

The BNU Center for Policy Research (BCPR), in strategic partnership with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Pakistan, successfully concluded Workshop II on "Teaching Methodology in the Classroom to Ensure Inclusivity," graciously hosted by the University of Lahore.

Specifically designed for Public Sector Degree College Faculty, this hands-on training focused on deconstructing traditional classroom dynamics. Under the leadership of Dr. Zainab Ahmad and our expert resource person, Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz Khan, faculty members engaged in interactive simulations to practice participatory pedagogical models, design inclusive assessments, and navigate linguistic and cultural barriers.

A heartfelt thank you to all the esteemed faculty members from Govt. Fatima Jinnah College for Women and Govt. Graduate College for Women, Gulberg, who participated and contributed to this vital dialogue on fostering inclusive education in Pakistan's public sector institutions!

Titled "Hands on Training: Teaching Methodology in the Classroom to Ensure Inclusivity," the workshop is designed to strengthen inclusive teaching practices by equipping faculty with practical, learner centered pedagogical approaches that foster engagement, accessibility, and meaningful classroom participation for diverse student populations.

On July 7, 2026, the BNU Center for Policy Research (BCPR) successfully hosted Policy Innovation Lab I titled "Hydro Politics and Hydro Diplomacy: Pakistan's Policy Options" under the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) funded Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Economic Development (CEPPED).

Beaconhouse National University, through BCPR, is currently implementing the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) funded Cluster on Public Policy and Economic Development under the Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Economic Development (CEPPED). The Cluster comprises a consortium of five universities, with BNU serving as the Lead University and the University of Management and Technology (UMT), University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), and the University of the Punjab (PU) serving as member universities.

The Policy Lab featured Dr. Zainab Ahmed as the Resource Person, who led an engaging discussion on Pakistan's evolving hydro political landscape, examining the strategic, legal, and diplomatic dimensions of transboundary water governance in an era of growing climate and geopolitical challenges.

The session explored critical issues including the implications of the Indus Waters Treaty, domestic water governance frameworks, the impact of climate change on water security, regional hydro diplomacy, and the institutional and legislative reforms required to strengthen Pakistan's long term water governance. Bringing together academics, researchers, and policy practitioners, the Policy Lab fostered evidence based dialogue aimed at developing practical and actionable policy recommendations for addressing one of Pakistan's most pressing national security and development challenges.

As part of CEPPED's ongoing commitment to strengthening policy research and academic collaboration, the session provided an important platform for interdisciplinary engagement, encouraging informed policy discourse and collaborative research across the consortium of partner universities.

The workshop featured Ms. Naveed Hakim, Lecturer, School of Computer and Information Technology (SCIT), BNU, as the Resource Person, who led an engaging and practice-oriented session on the responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence into higher education teaching.

Designed to strengthen AI literacy among faculty, the workshop explored practical applications of AI in lesson planning, assessment design, personalised feedback, and classroom engagement, while placing a strong emphasis on inclusive and equitable teaching practices. Participants also examined the ethical dimensions of AI, including algorithmic bias, data privacy, academic integrity, and strategies for ensuring that emerging technologies support students from diverse linguistic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds rather than reinforcing existing inequalities.

Through interactive discussions and hands on demonstrations, faculty members gained practical insights into leveraging AI tools to create more accessible, student centred learning environments while contributing to broader conversations on responsible AI adoption within Pakistan's higher education landscape.

On June 29-30, 2026, the BNU Center for Policy Research (BCPR) successfully hosted a two-day Faculty Development Workshop titled "Advanced Research Methods in Public Policy: Data Analysis, Modelling and Evaluation Techniques, with a Focus on Navigating Regional Partnerships: Pakistan's Foreign Relations' Dimensions along Borders" under the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC)-funded Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Economic Development (CEPPED).
The workshop integrated methodological training with substantive discussions on Pakistan's evolving regional foreign policy landscape. Participants explored qualitative and quantitative research methods, including discourse analysis, data analysis, modelling, and evaluation techniques, while applying these tools to contemporary policy challenges.
The workshop examined Pakistan's strategic relationships with China, India, Afghanistan, Iran, Bangladesh, and the Central Asian Republics within the changing geopolitical and geoeconomic environment. Discussions highlighted the opportunities and challenges arising from regional connectivity, border dynamics, great power competition, security concerns, and economic cooperation.
By combining research methodology with real-world policy analysis, the workshop strengthened participants' capacity to produce evidence-based public policy research and reinforced BCPR's commitment to advancing academic excellence, policy innovation, and informed public discourse.
