With a two-day programme covering satellite subsystems, ground stations, satellite mission design, launch vehicle design, CanSat assembly and testing, and CubeSat flight software, Space Camp 2026 provides opportunities to explore the technologies behind space missions through practical learning, simulation, and teamwork.

The programme also includes a CubeSat Flight Software Development Hackathon, linked with World Space Week 2026, encouraging participants to translate their learning into practical solutions.

Amna Arshad works as a Research Assistant at Information Technology University (ITU), Lahore, under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Qasim Mehmood, SPIE Fellow, SMIEEE. A dedicated member of IEEE, SPIE, and OPTICA, and President of the Alberuni Physics Society, she specializes in acoustic metamaterials and computational modelling.

This fully-funded PhD position places her at the Research Institute of Nano-Resolution Optics (RINRO) within the School of Electronic & Optical Engineering at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST), China, under the joint supervision of Prof. Liu Xuefeng and Prof. Jichuan Xiong.

During his recent academic visit to Suzhou City University (SZCU), Director Dr. Muhammad Qasim Mahmood engaged in intensive laboratory experimentation, advanced prototype development, and hands-on student supervision alongside Prof. Nasir Mahmood.

The collaborative research focused on refining a cutting-edge 3D Multimodal Microscopy Platform designed to integrate complementary imaging techniques into a compact, field-deployable setup.

Key Laboratory Activities & Mentorship:
โ€ข Alignment and integration of advanced optomechanical and optical components
โ€ข Testing motion-control systems, stepper motors, and embedded controllers
โ€ข Optimizing 3D-printed structural parts for mechanical stability and repeatability
โ€ข Mentoring students in systematic troubleshooting, hardware assembly, and automated data collection

As part of this visit, the 3D multimodal microscopy projectโ€”led by Prof. Nasir Mahmood with technical guidance from Dr. Qasim Mehmoodโ€”was prepared and presented for a provincial-level competition at SZCU. Demonstrating technical rigor and interdisciplinary teamwork, the student team secured 4th Position, marking a notable achievement for the laboratory and research group!
