On Monday, 29th September 2025, the Dean Geographical Society (DGS) and the Department of Geography hosted a lecture titled “Geo AI for a Sustainable Future: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence in Geography”, delivered by Dr. Adeel Ahmad, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geography, University of the Punjab.

Addressing a full house of students and faculty, Dr. Adeel — a skilled geospatial professional — explored the growing link between Geography and AI. He explained how Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning are revolutionizing geographic research and spatial analysis.

A key focus of his talk was Geo AI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence), which merges AI techniques with geospatial data to solve spatial problems and extract meaningful insights. He shared how Geo AI supports applications in environmental monitoring, urban planning, and public health, offering smarter and more sustainable solutions for the future.

On October 8th, 2025, we observed National Resilience Day with an insightful and interactive session led by Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, highlighting Pakistan’s resilience in the face of natural disasters and the importance of collective preparedness. 🌍💫🇵🇰
