Founded in 1966, Saeed Akhtar Studio (SAS) is the workplace for the Artist and his family, located in Johar Town, Lahore, Pakistan. SAS houses a comprehensive representation of Prof. Saeed Akhtar's career including his early and recent works. Recipient of Pakistan’s esteemed civilian awards Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) 2012, Tamgha-e Husn-e Karkardagi (Pride of Performance) 1994 and Fellow

of National College of Arts Lahore, Saeed Akhtar is among the most celebrated contemporary artists of Pakistan. Having played an iconic role in the promotion of art and art education, his lifelong meritorious contributions, sheer hard work, dedication and perseverance in Drawing, Painting and Sculpture have inspired generations of Pakistani artists. The subject of two comprehensive monographs published in 2009 and 2011 from Lahore, his work adorns prestigious public and private collections all over the globe. The content of Akhtar’s work has always been aimed to put on view, man’s quest for the Divine amidst sheer mortality. Richly consistent yet inventive in nature, his drawings and paintings seem to depict tools for celestial intervention along with crafting vessels to hold the transient moment. His sensibilities of form, texture and color define his oeuvre lending any medium that he uses, a pulsating emotive quality. Saeed Akhtar's legacy continues as his children work at SAS: Pratt Institute New York graduate, Interior Designer Umar Saeed; PhD in Art History, Head of Fine Art, School of Architecture, Art and Design Imperial University Lahore, Dr. Faiqa Saeed; Royal College of Art London graduate, Artist, Writer and Curator Usman Saeed and Art & Design | University of New South Wales Sydney graduate, Artist Fatima Saeed. Workshops of Art, Design and Architecture are conducted for beginners as well as professionals at SAS from June till September, annually. Summer Workshop 2015 begins on Monday, June 1. The galleries at SAS have also been employed as exhibition spaces for artists curated by Usman Saeed. USA based Artist Nida Bangash exhibited her debut solo show 'War Rugs with Love' (February 13 - 14, 2013) and Dubai based Artist Zahra Jewanjee held her debut solo exhibition 'The Promised Land' (December 21, 2013 - January 11, 2014). Two exhibitions opened on February 22, 2014 in collaboration with Lahore Literary Festival 2014: 'JAMILA ZAIDI: Tribute to a Teacher' and 'Postcard Drawing' that continued till March 8, 2014. Co-curated with Art & Design | UNSW graduate Imran Ahmad, 'Sydney-Lahore: Prints from the Collections of Cicada Press and Saeed Akhtar Studio' was held from September 9 to 20, 2014.

Assalamaoalaikum everyone. This is to inform all those students who are interested in taking drawing classes at our studio this year that the registration for this year classes have started from Tuesday 23 May to 31 May, 11 am to 6 pm. Further the drawing classes will start from Thursday, 1st June. Please bring a passport size photograph & first month tuition fee of 15,000 at the time of registration.
