On World Bee Day, the brilliant bees of the Zoological Sorority Council buzzed into action! They set up a booth at the "Entrepreneurship, AI & Apiculture" event, co-hosted by the Khadija-Tul-Kubra Business Incubation Center and the Department of Zoology at LCWU. Their goal? To showcase their own brand of "entrepreneurial design", business ideas with an AI twist, by presenting creative products to spread the buzz about bee importance.

Faculty from the Department of Zoology, LCWU attended three-days groundbreaking workshop (May 14 -16, 2024) titled "Leveraging AI in Academia, Fostering Innovation, and Building a Sustainable AI Ecosystem" led by the esteemed Dr. Akira Murata, an internationally renowned AI expert from Japan. The workshop was organized by the Faculty Development Centre (FDC) DFDI of Lahore College for Women University.

Faculty from the department of Zoology participated in a specialized micro-counseling training session organized by Career Guidance and Counseling Centre (CGCC) in a bid to enhance support services for students. The activity was held under the patronage of worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shagufta Naz and support of respected Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal. Resource persons of the event, Ms. Mamoona Riaz and Ms. Samina Uzair guided the faculty members with essential skills to better address the diverse mental health needs of students.

Dr. Huma Khurshid successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis under the supervision of Dr. Fakhar un Nisa Yunus and Co-Supervision of Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor. The title of her Ph.D. thesis is "Study of site-directed mutagenesis of active cry proteins against spodoptera litura through overlapping PCR". She has successfully published her research in prestigious, peer-reviewed W category journals with impact factors.

Dr. Zaeema Usman successfully defended her Zoology PhD thesis on 26.04.2024 under the supervision of Dr. Zakia Kanwal and Co-Supervision of Dr. Asima Tayyab. The title of her PhD thesis is "Expression profile of Interleukin 1-beta and tumor necrosis factor -alpha genes in cirrhinus mrigala against microbial challenges".

Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor Ex-Chairperson Zoology, Ex-Director ORIC and Ex-Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University, Lahore graced the University campus on Thursday March 21, 2024 as invited speaker for a Seminar on Career Advancement organised by the Alumni Working Group LCWU. BS students attended the interactive event where captivating dialogue between the guest and students ensued. Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Manzoor enlightened the attendees about her struggles and achievements. She offered career advice for young female Zoologists and guided them about various professional avenues of Animal Sciences including entrepreneurial ventures and career jobs.
