By the time you're filling your MBA applications, you'll have pretty much everything available beforehand (transcripts, resume, test scores, etc). The only component you'll need to craft differently for each school is the essay. While the grades and test scores make for quantitative data, the qualitative essay invites you to share your personality.

Even experienced candidates with well-rounded applications make the big mistake of not taking this component seriously. After all, you’ve been a part of the corporate sector and held managerial roles for multiple years; why would a bunch of executives judge your writing skills?

In truth, the essay is more than that. It is your opportunity to share a unique story that convinces the school why you'll make a valuable addition to their batch.

To help you out, we've compiled some writing tips for your MBA essay.

· Generally speaking, yes, the GRE is harder than the SAT since it is for students who want to go for their masters, rather than the SAT which is for students wanting to do their undergrad.

· However, there is a discrepancy between the topics and skills evaluated in both tests. The test formats, types of questions, scoring algorithms all differ, so we cannot make a 1: 1 comparison between both.

Also, candidates are simply no longer be in high school when they take GRE and have the extra skills needed to do well in it

The answer to this varies for everyone.

Some do better at the GMAT, while others do better at the GRE. But, if you are eligible for GMAT, your "GMAT benefit" will outweigh any "GRE benefits" in your application.

However, it is difficult to judge admission outcomes just from statistics related to test scores because we don’t know exactly what the overall profiles of applicants looked like and how those played a part in the final admission decision.

Your best bet is to decide which test you think suits your strengths more. Consider your practice test scores for both to make a decision.

Both tests have similarities.

Which one you take depends on

1) your personal strengths and weaknesses;

2) which programs you intend to apply in; and

3) whether or not those programs have expressed any preference for one test over the other.

The fact that the GRE is administered through computers makes it, in some ways, more difficult. It causes candidates to be unable to add relevant markings, e.g., in the Comprehension Reading section. Some also find it frustrating to be so focused on a single screen for four whole hours.

However, taking a computer test is actually beneficial in some aspects. Swipe to discover more about this
