University Government Fatima Jinnah College for Women was established in 1986.

In the 17th century, during the Mughal period this building was the Haveli of Asif Jah, who was the Governor of Lahore and the brother of Queen Noor Jehan and the father of Queen Mumtaz Mahal. During the Sikh period it was the Haveli of Dhayan Singh, who was a Senior Minister of Raja Ranjit Singh, and during the days of British Raj it was used for administrative purposes.
