Rabia Ashiq is a shining star of CARE Foundation.

As a student at a CARE adopted government school, Rabia always excelled at sports. Rabia was discouraged by her family from participating in sports, but her passion made her persist against all odds. With the support of her teachers, she maintained a rigorous training schedule throughout school and qualified for a number of national and international competitions. In 2012, the Olympics Committee selected her as a wild card entry to the 800-meter race and she became one of the only two women from Pakistan to participate in the 2012 Olympics. Till date, she has won a total of 52 gold medals and set two national records.

On this Women's Day, let's promise to empower our women and make sure that every girl gets an equal chance at success!

As a young girl, Asma Sajid never believed that she will have the resources to study beyond the 10th grade. When promises of the future seemed limited, she decided to take things into her own hands.

She completed her primary education at the CARE-Adopted City District Government Girls High School in Mominpura, Lahore. After passing her Matriculation exams with flying colors, Asma was awarded a 75% fee concession from Punjab College of Commerce for I. Com and CARE Foundation sponsored the remaining amount.

After completing her I. Com., Asma enrolled in the B. Com. program at the same institute and was awarded a 100% scholarship by CARE. The next step in her journey was to get enrolled in the Access to English Language program offered by CARE. Asma continued to work hard and secured 1st position in every examination of the Access program.

By the time she completed the Access program, Asma had become a confident speaker. Her speaking prowess combined with her accountancy skills earned her a chance to work with Telenor Abacus and later with Chang Hong Ruba as an Assistant Accountant.

However, at her heart, Asma was inspired by CARE Foundation and wanted to work in the education sector for the betterment of other children like herself. She is currently working as a Vice Principal at the Grand Knowledge High School in Karim Park.

She continues to harbor respect for her teachers and the CARE team, and her students do the same for her. She expresses immense gratitude towards CARE for holding her hand throughout the years and helping her transform her life.
