Celebrating the New Leadership of AIS.

Today, the Afghan Initiative Society (AIS) had the honour of celebrating the new leadership hierarchy through a cake-cutting ceremony attended by Mr. Awais Raoof, Patron of AIS and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of Lahore, Ms. Ammara Awais, Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Sustainability and Member of the BOG, and Sir Saroof Anwar, Director of Students.

During the gathering, Ms. Ammara Awais spoke about the importance of girls’ education and assured the female students that the University of Lahore will continue to stand beside them and support them in every possible situation.

Mr. Awais Raoof appreciated AIS members for their remarkable contributions and achievements over the past five years. He encouraged the new leadership to continue this journey with dedication, organizing meaningful activities and further strengthening the positive representation of Afghan students within the University of Lahore community.

Sir Saroof Anwar also appreciated AIS for its unique contribution among the university’s international societies, highlighting its cooperation with different societies and its efforts to promote Afghan culture, unity, and a positive image of Afghan students—not only at UOL but across Pakistan.

The ceremony marked a new chapter for AIS, while celebrating the efforts of its previous leadership and looking forward to more impactful activities, stronger collaboration, and greater representation in the years ahead. 🇦🇫

Afghan Initiative Society (AIS) – Leadership Transition.

Yesterday, the Afghan Initiative Society (AIS) officially announced its new leadership hierarchy, marking the conclusion of the previous leadership team’s tenure and the beginning of a new chapter for AIS.

The official announcement was made by the respected Patron of AIS and Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG) of the University of Lahore, Mr. Awais Raoof, along with Student Director Mr. Saroof Anwar.

During the announcement, the BOG Chairman appreciated the efforts and active participation of Afghan students in university activities and recognized their positive contribution to the University of Lahore community. He also highlighted the importance of education, particularly women’s education in Afghanistan.

Appreciation for the Previous Leadership

We would also like to sincerely appreciate the previous leadership team for their dedication and contributions throughout their tenure:

President: Ahmad Shahid Azizi
Vice President: Ashraf Adinzai
General Secretary: Husna Noori
Treasurer: Abdullah Mia

During their tenure, AIS organized and participated in more than six events, along with educational and awareness sessions, cultural celebrations, and collaborations with different societies. The team also developed strong inter-university connections with students, representatives, and student societies from various universities across Pakistan.

These efforts created opportunities for Afghan students to engage with a wider student community, promote Afghan culture, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships with students and representatives from different parts of Pakistan.

Throughout this tenure, the AIS team worked to represent Afghan students positively and contribute to building a stronger and more positive image of Afghan students across Pakistan.

We sincerely thank the previous leadership for their commitment, teamwork, and service to the AIS family. Their efforts have established a strong foundation for the new leadership to continue building upon.

The Afghan Initiative Society (AIS), University of Lahore, strongly condemns the decision by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to require Afghan medical and dental students to return to Afghanistan while they are still in the middle or final stages of their degrees.

This is not merely an administrative decision, it is a decision that directly affects the dreams, futures, and lives of Afghan students who have already dedicated 2, 3, 4, and even 5 years of their lives to becoming doctors and dentists.

Before making such a decision, we must pause and think about the human beings behind these degrees.

Think about the nights they stayed awake studying while others were sleeping. Think about the countless hours they spent in classrooms, laboratories, hospitals, and libraries preparing themselves for the medical profession. Think about the years they sacrificed their time, their youth, their money, and countless personal moments all for one dream: to become doctors and serve humanity.

Some of these students are now in their final semesters, while others are in the middle of their programs. After investing years of their lives and significant financial resources, how can they simply be asked to leave and abandon their education?

Think about the students who faced financial difficulties, sometimes struggling even to afford food, yet continued studying because they refused to give up on their dreams. Think about the weddings, celebrations, family gatherings, friendships, and countless personal moments they missed because they chose their education and future first.

For these students, this is not simply about a university seat or an academic degree. This is their life. This is their dream. This is the future they have sacrificed years to build.

Whatever political, diplomatic, or administrative challenges may exist, students should not become victims of politics. Their education and future should not be placed at risk because of circumstances beyond their control.

The Afghan Initiative Society respectfully calls upon the PMDC and the relevant authorities of Pakistan to reconsider this decision and adopt a humanitarian approach. At the very least, these students should be given the opportunity to complete the degrees they have already worked so hard and sacrificed so much for.

We raise our voices together, not for politics, but for justice, humanity, education, and the future of Afghan students.

Let them complete what they started.
Let them become the doctors and dentists they dreamed of becoming.
Let their years of sacrifice not be wasted.

Students must not be victims of politics.
Give them a chance to complete

The Afghan Initiative Society (AIS) is immensely proud to congratulate the 10 Afghan students who successfully graduated from the University of Lahore.

Their graduation is a reflection of their dedication, adaptations, hard work, and commitment throughout their academic journey. Each graduate has overcome challenges, embraced new experiences, and demonstrated that determination can turn dreams into reality.

Proud moment for all Afghan students, when chairman, Bord of governors, the University of Lahore mister Awais Raoof, said incredible words about the president of Afghan initiative society Ahmad Shahid Azizi.

We are especially proud to celebrate Matiullah Safi, who earned a Silver Medal for his outstanding academic performance. 🥈🎓 His achievement is a great source of pride for the Afghan community and the entire AIS family.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our Afghan graduates and their families, whose unconditional love, prayers, support, and sacrifices have played an important role in making this achievement possible.

It was more than just a celebration, it was a beautiful reminder of our history, courage, unity, and love for Afghanistan. We came together far from our homeland, but our hearts remained close to Afghanistan. May our country always move toward peace, prosperity, unity, education, and a brighter future.
